Why is there all this mention of 79mph? All I said, was that 80mph was close, doesn't mean it's lower than 80 wink
The problem being it probably doesn't mean the Italian definition of 'close enough' to the motorway 'limit' to avoid a prosecution either.Unless the law would like to confirm otherwise. In which case that would obviously make it worth having put in the extra lane and maybe change my mind about using the A25/A20 for the run to Dover to avoid the potential nick and/or aggravation of using the motorway.

My point was that the existing speed limit enforcement regime reduces the speed differentials between the lanes to an unviable and potentially dangerous level. With all the safety and other implications of that and that issue increases in line with the amount of lanes.

Assuming the law understand that then it will obviously need some official confirmation that a blind eye will be turned to realistic motorway speeds. On the basis that considerably higher speeds than the limit in isolation are safer than those implications caused by adherence to the limit in all cases.
