Elroy Blue, you are mistaking me for someone who has advocated the 'no comment' approach. I would politely suggest you read my previous posts on this thread and you'll realise your mistake. smile

Considering it will likely be the Police who become decision maker on whether or not to charge (or at least report) following interview, I would not recommend them as being an impartial party in the matter. If you are faced with an expert who is in possession of all the allegations against you, it makes sense to take your own expert who will guide you as safely as possible through the process.

Would any Police officers here recommend the OP ought not take legal representation to this interview?

This. Definitely this.
Yes, so bleeding obvious (© Fawlty Towers) it is unbelievable why it didn't occur to the OP or any of us.

Funny old world, innit?

Surprised no one has suggested that it might be a hoax/scam/car jacking?

is your car parked outside your house? Ie, could you get the reg AND your home address just by standing outside your house?

'Come to the station, bring all spare keys so we can verify you are in charge of them all. bring your logbook and locking wheel nut too'

Bam!, car jacked at a junction on route to the station.

Pissed off/jealous neighbour ?

Did you call the number on the note or did you dial the station from a researched number?
Don't be surprised, as it's total nonsense.
What, because there is no feasible way this could ever happen?

Really? Honestly? No chance what so ever of this ever happening?

wow. Can i have your pin number please just to confirm your identity ?

Just been catching up on the replies, thanks all.

Small update, I have emailed the PC I was talking to & advised him I'll be taking the option of having a duty Solicitor present. He hasn't got back to me yet but he did say he was on a course for a few days.

As for the car jacking suggestion, the PC's note asked me to call 101 & get put through that way so pretty sure it's genuine (unfortunately!!)

Cheers.

Didn't you hear? I'm one of those anonymous people on the internet!

Seriously, it really has no bearing on the point I'm making. I am sure you're not being so impolite as to aim for the man and not the ball.

Very much aiming for the ball.
I only ask, as I am assuming you have some legal standing. Otherwise, your points and suggestions lose a lot of their credibility, and would suggest a certain level of hypocrisy.
But I'll take your word for it!

You'll have to excuse me, but I don't follow what you mean....

Edited to add; ...not that it matters now and OP has sensibly decided to take a solicitor with him.

Well some of your comments suggesting that legal advice from police should be rubbished, along with the fact that you appear to be providing such advice yourself, could be seen as hypocritical if you have no legal experience yourself?

And yes re your ETA, I think OP has made a wise choice. Looking forward to the update.

Upon finding two dogs tied together in a field, would your immediate conclusion be some kind of gypsy trick?

Just so I know what I'm dealing with here.

No one has said just don't go.
What's liable to happen then ?
Let them follow it up all day.
It's their job, not yours
Just make sure you legal for the pull you're bound to get from local Bill

Prize for the worst advice yet.

What's liable to happen?
He's likely to get arrested.
Stick to things you know something about.

Nicked?
That's just the start of it.
That's just what normally happens isn't it ?
Go from there.

No matter how "nice" you're acting, you're getting nicked if they've got evidence
Self incrimination, that's what they're going for.
I'd be prepared to let them go for it with what they've got
Which sounds like not that much.

Id tell them I don't know what they're talking about, and shrug your shoulders a lot.
