I'm sure there are hospitals closer to Melksham than Taunton.
Yes I assume you don't have children?
Whether I have children or not, Bristol, which has an excellent hospital, is still a lot closer to Melksham than Taunton. Swindon is closer too.

And if she was in labour, I'm sure he'll be speeding to Bristol too.

Wow!! Some interesting reads!!
Just to clarify i drive a car for business uk wide about 60k per year and many a time you can just be easily doing the 34 mph to get caught or 56 in a average zone!! It has taught me to be more cautious and change my driving style!
I know there will be one day i lapse in concentration and a camera zaps me! I want a good device to reduce the chance of that happening by reminding me thats all!! Thanks again for all your product reviews and re jammers!!

But he wouldn't need to speed by so much or for so long if he chosen a more sensible hospital.

[pointless Internet arguement] I'm sure proximity wasn't the only reason for his choice a maternity unit. [/pointless Internet arguement]

Proximity wasn't a reason at all, as there was no proximity. He's had an opportunity to give his reason for going to Exeter, and hasn't. As for pointless, you could say that about virtually every argument on PH.

If that's your concern, why are you harping on about it? Obviously I wasn't going to mention it again unless he did, or someone like you.

the pregnant woman was in labour in taunton as she was at home, I was working in wiltshire at the time she went into labour. I had no control she wasnt going to travel 140 miles when she was 6 from maternity unit in taunton.

Also she has rare blood type, a negative and low platelets and musgrove had her under a consultant. A because there is a small risk she could not clot due to low platelets and also due to negative blood type she has to have anti d treatment.

Do you need any further reasoning ?

Get a Belkin radar/laser detector and an old TomTom with pocketgpsworld speed cameras on it (£20/year)). Limit yourself to 75mph on motorways and watch out for NSL->60mph->50mph->40mph nonsense. Rear view mirror for unmarked cars. Sorted smile

the pregnant woman was in labour in taunton as she was at home, I was sent to work in wiltshire at the time she went into labour. I had no control she wasnt going to travel 140 miles when she was 6 from maternity unit in taunton. Peter Andre had his baby there not he didnt use your logic he wnet there as his partner went into labour taunton and not the nearest hospital to his home.
Ah, I see, so it wasn't the case that you were driving the pregnant woman, it was just that you wanted to be there. I wonder why you thought it worth mentioning then, as everybody who speeds has a reason for doing so. When I do 91 on the M4 I do it because I want to get home earlier.

And if I get caught, I'll pay up without bhing about it.

So many do-gooders here that stick to the speed limit. Probably never broken the speed limit ever in their honest lives. I believe them all.

To the naughty ones, could you possibly recommend a speed camera detector?

I can't help with the fixed cameras but for the mobile ones your car could be less reflective especially the number plate, headlights and any chrome trim.

If you enter a specs zone to fast then you'll have to hide behind lorries for a while to lower your average speed.

You can probably buy electronic aids as well.

Poor advice, paintman. Had an 'as you like' driver today, O/T me on a blind bend. A whisker away from a head-on.

I'm still using a Road Angel which has kept me out of trouble for the past few years. I'm hearing rumours of a better product about to hit the market tho.

Yes, every driver should have one. A right hand shoe that is lighter than air.

I have no idea what you're on about, you talk in odd riddles.

He asked for a recommendation for a speed trap detector, I tried to help.
