Travelling between Bradford and Leeds last night with the gantry limits at 50, sitting on cruise at an indicated 52, so probably 49ish, and got flashed 3 times on separate gantries.

Test flashes?

Calibration?

Error?

Has this happened to anyone here before? I'm mostly managing not to worry. But I can't help but be slightly concerned.

He meant 50 his phone must have auto corrected someone's email address. censored... I'm so impressed you have a 500bhp engine in your car by the way. I bet that comes in handy on UK roads.

The cameras on that stretch will flash once immediately after a new speed it is signalled back to the speed cameras by the gantry signs.
There may also be a number of single flashes at intervals between sign changes.
If there is a double flash then that is done after a vehicle is seen to be above the enforcement threshold for the indicated speed limit.
Remember when the illuminated signs are off the indicated speed limit is 70mph...unless you are driving a vehicle that is not allowed to do 70mph.

Are you saying that a camera can tell the difference between 3.5t and 7.5t curtain side vans and trucks in the time it takes to drive past at over 70 mph ?

Doesn't stop folks belting through at 85, though.
