Believe it or not I did actually have a quick drink in the pub although I wasn't there for the whole time as I went across the road for meal.

I didn't notice any signs (as it was dark) cant believe ive got a ticket can I tell them to bugger off?

You don't have to pay it no, but seeing as its a Council ticket if you don't it won't simply just go away. You've already admitted parking there so based on that you're bang to rights and will probably need to pay up. Nice Merc btw!

No it isn't a council ticket Civil Enforcement Ltd are a parking management company.

However don't expect it to just go away.. I have no meaningful advice beyond this.

Send them an appeal. If they refuse, send an appeal to POPLA. See how it goes from there.

Do not ignore and do not just throw it in the bin.

Pics of signage needed. In what way is the PPC contending that your vehicle was not 'authorised' in a pub car park? The issue date of the PCN is obscured which doesn't help. When was it? I suggest you also redact your registration number and the PCN number. Check that the PCN is fully PoFA compliant. A properly constructed appeal is the first step asking for a POPLA code if they reject it (99.99% guaranteed). A POPLA appeal should then make this go away.

Don't ignore as CEL like issuing court papers which will waste a lot of your time. That said, they normally run away from properly defended cases. They rely on people not turning up so they get a default judgement. Though if you defend they will still try to trick you into thinking the case has been discontinued.

And while you are waiting have some consideration for the landlord who is trying to run a business but can't if selfish twunts use their car park when visiting other businesses.

I had been into the pub. I've also drank in the pub on and off for the last 20 years.

The pub's website suggests you have to log your car registration number with their "thingummy" (sic) to park. This may be for hotel guests only of course. Either way it sounds a bit authoritarian.

Maybe we should invoice people for staying too long in the pub after they finish a meal, after all the landlord is trying to run a business?

You are at least still in the pub, rather than a restaurant over the road....

Glad I'm not the only one to notice that. You must be able to ignore a major cock up like that!

Notice what? You ought to read it again, the date and time are fine, even if the practice is crap.

Why didn't you park on the road? There's always a bit of space near the shops that time of night or even on the roads around the common?

Anyhow I bet they've employed that company as a bit of a money maker hence the aggressive application of contract terms.

O/T Theydon Bois vigorously defends it's status as a village despite there being 2 fields between it and the conurbation of Greater London, mostly because they turn off their street lighting at night. Keeps the house prices up donchaknow. Nobheads.
