Asking for a friend and yes it really is!

He was in court for an offence and was given an undertaking to appear in court a month later as the presecution needed more time. He appeared then and was handed a letter advising the undertaking had been cancelled.

Does anyone know if this means the matter is resolved or if he can expect to be asked to appear again? He has not heard anything since. The last court date was in January 2014. This is in Scotland.

Thanks for any advice.

He should phone the Clerk of the Court where he was summonsed to appear. He will get the correct message from him!

Phone the PF office and ask. If it's been in court before then quote the two letter 8 digit reference. Usually undertakings are given to people arrested then released by police for further investigation. Time to initiate proceedings depends on offence. If statutory offence - breach of a named act, then usually 6 months. If common law, then longer.
