Big up to Echoice!!
That was easy. I'll try the same thing, as I haven't claimed I'll just pretend I had insurance elsewhere.

I must run my finances incorrectly.
It's not that, it's just that you're poor. wink

Hand in your PH badge immediately.
On the contrary, he's probably very rich because he's careful with his money wink

Rich people normally are. Those who aren't don't hang onto their money for long.

They say a fool and his money are soon parted, but in my experience, they rarely get together in the first place.

Glad you managed to resolve that.
Due to this thread I have contacted my current insurance company to make sure I am not in the same situation in a couple of weeks.
The bad news is that I am now insured with Saga smile

Did you miss the bit where they checked with the other insurer?

IIRC the industry has been spanked for auto-renewing without proper authorisation - particularly assumed agreement to auto-renewal. They must have realised they were on dodgy ground to have caved in so easily.

Yep, just skipped that, oh well there goes that plan dammit.

No spanking just the FOS disappointed that there were some complaints about it and some insurers didn't send out renewal notices, or at least that's what the complainant said.

And we're back to post not arriving.

I got a rebate from my bank recently of about £300 because I was double insured for something through my homes and contents insurance and my current account. I didn't even know it was the case but they must have had a reason to be looking themselves.

It's quite rare to be a top class footballer or a lottery winner.

You can take out as many policies as you like on your car. However, as you rightly say, the issue is when claiming, ever they will all pay their share eg 10 insurers, so they all pay 10%, or there's a big argument over who pays it all. One thing's for certain amd that,s that you won't be getting 10x the payout.
I beg to differ. My old boss, Robert Hyams, insured his combine harvester with 10 different companies and all 10 paid out when he claimed it was stolen. He did end up in prison not long after though laugh

Seems he hasn't changed much http://www.maltastar.com/dart/20120725-conman-with...

No refund as yet but it has been approved however as over £500 it needed extra approval and will be with me in 5 working days - key to this was the checking with Aviva.

Edit - its in my bank today, just in time to pay my insurance renewal!
