Op where you based? And where is this dealer based?

If it's local to me I'll come with you and help you get your money back. I despise anyone who takes advantage off hard working people.

If it's within an hour for me I can come with you this weekend or I'll try and finish work early one evening.
I would venture that even intimating violence/vigilantism/threatening behaviour on a public forum is not very helpful...to the OP and you.

I don't see that was even intimating anything. Help could be legal help, moral support or assistance in drafting a letter.

Sounds a bit more like moral support and to prevent the OP fearing being attacked to me...

I did no such thing.

My offer to help the guy was genuine, but my good nature doesn't extend to getting locked up and/or sent to prison for someone I don't know from the internet.

Others hit the nail on the head - actually having someone standing next to you can allow you to put your case across without feeling intimidated. And the other party are usually not as quick to kick off if they see a person has some support.

I just wanted the bloke to get his money. I hope he has. But I wasn't offering to attack or threaten anyone. I would have happily gone door to door explaining to other businesses and his neighbours to be careful about the conman though. Humiliation is a great way of getting people to play along - it's a tactic used by bailiffs and also to a limited extent the police. If that makes me a bad person I don't mind.

Over a week later and still nothing from the OP?

So what's the most likely outcome here?:

1) The OP is just being incredibly bad mannered by not giving any sort of conclusion to this topic?

2) The OP made a ccensoredk up with his old/new address in the first place resulting in a cheque going to the wrong address way back yonder and the OP doesn't want to have to admit that it's all their error and not the dealers?

3) The OP is an attention seeker who made the whole story up to sound more interesting than they really are?

4)The OP followed some of the advice on here and is now facing a criminal conviction for threatening behaviour/GBH/ABH/theft of property etc., etc.

5) The OP followed some of the advice on here and went to see the dealer with some "tasty" pals to sort it out, only to find that the dealers pals were more numerous and a bit "tastier", resulting in the OP now being in hospital/dead?

6) It turns out that we all dreamt this entire thread up and the OP was in the shower the whole time with his car still safely in his possession? (For the younger generation on here do a search for: "Dallas Bobby Ewing death dream").

This made Me laugh though:

I guess the op would have let us know if the cheque bounced.

Yep that's exactly what's happened. The cheque did indeed bounce on Thursday so he's played me like a mug...the cheque has been represented by my bank and he's assured me that the cheque will clear Monday.
