That is excuse number 1.

Friday will be "another cheque didn't clear, a customer passed me a bad cheque - I didn't want to send you one"... "next Friday latest, I'm out of pocket here, it was £30k!"

Rinse / repeat. etc

Op where you based? And where is this dealer based?

If it's local to me I'll come with you and help you get your money back. I despise anyone who takes advantage off hard working people.

If it's within an hour for me I can come with you this weekend or I'll try and finish work early one evening.

Bellend..
Maybe he should ask you to arrange a HAHO parachute insertion of a crack squad of men to 'take out' the miscreant. That would be the Ultimate show of Force.

Oh and also, learn to use quotes correctly. Cretin.
'22Rgt.' Yeah, right. Who's the bell end?

This sounds like a nightmare and my thoughts are with the real owner. Proof of ownership keeps popping up here and it astounds me that the v5c is not this, tbh what actually is? The v5c should be a legal document for ownership and responsibility for the car (taxing, insuring and mot'ing), which the dvla manage tightly and not in the washy washy manner they do. Ie transfers being done without accurate signatures or even signatures, and should perhaps even include signed proofs/receipts of sale.

Far too many grey and 'what if' areas popping up with this story, surely it should so much more black and white!?
Receipt for payment made upon purchase. Should have name, address etc. Surely only a fool would buy without that!

TX.

You do realise that 22 rgt doesn't just refer to the SAS don't you...

I was a 22 regt sapper. If I chose to advertise that fact on my profile would that make me a bell end? Personally I wouldn't do that - but plenty of other people advertise their jobs on here without getting slated.

Infact there are loads of legitimate military alternative to 22 sas.

Osinjak is the arbiter of who should put what on their profile and he has a hardon for 22rgt, like quite a few others.

This is exactly what Verdi Ferrari were doing. Some of Verdi's early victims did get their money back through sheer will and perseverance. Lots of phonecalls, threats (no don't threaten violence), and visits to the premises to basically make a nuisance of yourself. At that stage the garage owner will be robbing Peter to pay Paul. And eventually there will be no one left to rob and they'll close down and do a runner.

OP, be proactive on all fronts re this.

Btw, there is one method you can obtain the details about the registered keeper through the DVLA. However you would have to lie to them to get it so think very carefully before going down that route.

You should have read what he put on his profile before he edited it. It had sod all to do with sappers unless you're now trained in 'HALO and covert sniper instructor.' Because of course they are the only things you would be trained n in that esteemed unit and is there an overt sniper course? Laughable bks.

HAHO (high altitude parachutist instructor)
Covert sniper insertion specialist.
Not exactly ambiguous is it.

His being, or not being, in the SAS is largely immaterial to the cocksocket nature of his posts in general, and his haphazard use of the quote function.

I did pick that up from the OP.

If the written contract says that, then the OP is laughing.

My strong guess though is that the contract of agency gives the dealer the right to sell the car. Playing out the endgame of that, the dealer denies saying that, and refers to signed contract to cover his behind.
I would expect it to be the other way around
I would expect any written agreement to be designed to distance the dealer from the sale as much as possible, and just claim the owner gave him the authority to complete the sale on the day if he needs to

Even if he knew where the car was kept, and he still retained a spare key, what do you propose he does exactly? The new owner owes him nothing.

Are you 22Rgt's secret lover or something? You seem particularly sensitive about him

Well I think the same as everyone else and had a bit of a selfish titter at your expense - sorry biggrin Did he really say I'll send you a cheque?

Anyway, sorry to say, I suspect that the research and scrabbling around regarding whether he changed company will get you nowhere. It'll only be of use in court if you ever get there. However you have a much bigger stick - he sold the car (which was clearly the intent of your agreement with him) and hasn't paid you.

You need to exercise all (legal) efforts to get your money back. A solicitor and letters, turning up every day. not taking no for an answer, maybe (as a last resort) part payments. Waiting till a cheque doesn't turn up next week is not the way.

Good luck
Bert

PS can't all you people bickering about the SAS go and do it somewhere else? It's really tedious.

Oh now you've had it - there's a crack squad of them on their way to take you down. Only thing is you'll never recognise them - they look and act just like normal people...
