Depends which website she goes on moaning about it if you kick her out!
I suspect mumsnet have me targetted for being a PHer and having stickers on my cars probably dosn't help, maybe the PH smilies are like a beacon for mentals.

I tried to do the right thing, and thought about getting my life back.

Hopefully it's a fear over nothing!

My god! You overheard a conversation where a business was asking a customer to pay and on that basis you've concluded she's a mentalist!

I'd be more worried about your lodger having a mentalist landlord.

I'd be worried that you let her move into your house without signing anything or her paying you anything.

I'll keep you posted if she turns up with the cash fair do's, though the vibes I'm getting are that she's mental and won't have the cash. That and some conversations where it turns out she had her kids taken away due to her in laws saying she was mental. I suspect realistically bunny boiler terriotory.

Realistic options and advice would be most beneficial joking aside!

Perhaps it'll be OK.

But if and when it does go bad, then make sure you have a witness with you when you tell her to leave. Seriously.

Not that I know much about this sort of thing, but if there is no contract and money has crossed palms, how can she be a tennant or anything else for that matter?
I know it costs up front but you ought to find out exactly where you stand legally with lodgers before renting rooms etc (and what sort of contracts to enter into)...I have heard some real nightmare problems with tennants, who clearly understand their rights.

The only way to know if she's really mental is to sleep with her, then immediately afterwards tell her to get her stuff and leave.

Let us know how it goes.

If she is really mental then whether he has deep cuddles with her or not won't matter, because if it suits her she will say or believe that he did, so he might as well.

Depends on what contract you've drawn up, if any, but having a lodger is very different from having a tenant - do your own research, but I'm under the impression you can turf a lodger out with little or no notice and they have very little comeback. If you do go down the turfing route, make absolutely sure of your legal position, as if it turns out she is a tenant and not a lodger then the situation is very different.
This, i kicked out a Hungarian couple after i returned home from a couple of days away one Christmas to find they'd moved in most of their family. Told them they had 7 days to GTF out. Told them they'd be locked out if they didn't

Lodgers have literally no tenant rights and it is only necessary to give reasonable notice which is generally considered similar to payment period. If they pay weekly, one week; pay monthly then one month. Not paid at all 24 seems reasonable to me.

Cheers guys I'm just looking for an escape route, I know it's my fault. And I'll be going nowhere near that with any of yours.

That said anyone in the northwest in need of a lodger who cleans etc....

She was an ex F1 girl and dancer so I'm sure she was at some point.

Not the point. By way of example, I give you Brigitte Bardot and many millions of other other women (and men, for the politically sensitive) who are now munters, and not just because of age. What matters is now. wink
