Peace of mind regarding traffic lights

Yes people without a car or licence, e.g. young people, old people, sick people, poor people, disabled people should stay at home where they belong out of sight.
And just why do you think the road network should be designed around these people giving them priority over the rest of us ?Are they just too important to join on with the rest ?

I'm with OP - confusing, especially from a distance.
They need a red-light camera on the bus lane to catch buses pulling into RH lane if BL light is red.
I would imagine the bus lane light changes to green fairly promptly on the approach of a bus! They need a red-light camera on the bus lane to catch buses pulling into RH lane if BL light is red.
If not, a bus moving to the RH lane to take advantage of a green light is perfectly legal.
I have driven classic buses down this road (in Lincoln) many a time. This stop is not one I need to use, so, rather than be delayed by the traffic light, I always go for the chicane with the other traffic!

Point you've missed is buses are usually 90% empty so your demographic is massively over represented. Have a look for yourself next time, you'll be amazed. Please don't try to defend a real world problem with a fantasyland argumentsupermono said:

OP, as you're fairly new to driving, the way to tell in that scenario who goes/stops when one of those lights turns green or amber/red is down to if there's a solid white line across the lane. There's a solid white line in the bus lane at the second light but not in the lane you were in where the second light is in the picture.

I saw something similar, cant remember where but the bus just pulled out into the right lane to go through the lights on green and then back into the bus lane after the junction. Leftist thinking at its best.
They've done the same in Belfast city centre - bus lanes through all the busiest routes. Buses just pull across 3 lanes of traffic to use the normal lanes if they get a red, often blocking the entire road.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
