In summary, buy a plate with letters that are the shape the law dictates or keep paying the fines.

I thought plod were cracking down on plates that can't be read on their ANPR cameras since the tax discs have now gone. Is that the issue?

I can't imagine how he gets pissed off with you.

It truly is a mystery.

From the PC's perspective he has pulled you for an incorrect plate (which you admit to still having). By not complying even having been fined you are showing contempt for the law and it doesn't surprise me that you get pulled every time he sees you, otherwise you are just mocking him. Do you really expect him to turn a blind eye once you have been told?

You deserve everything you get.

Also, please could you name the officer involved so that I can write a letter of commendation to his Chief Constable?

Thanks in advance.

tl;dr

OP has private plate.
Bought and displayed incorrectly- fined
Displayed a little less incorrectly- fined
Displayed almost correctly but still not quite right- fined
Fails attitude test on multiple plate infractions- summons.

If a plate has to:

Use illegal fonts
Use illegal spacing
Use numberplate bolts
Require an explanation

Then basically it's not a very good plate.
So I'd say either display it the way it has been intended and is mandated in law, or get rid of it.

Sorry OP, all I read was WAAAAA!!! SNOT FAIR!!!!!! and you throwing your toys out of the pram.

You bought the rights to a number plate and decided to display it in a certain way. You got nabbed for it. Then after a while, nabbed again, and again. Then the law changed to clarify how a number plate can be spaced, and you didn't alter it, despite I expect being instructed. You now have to go to court, and after failing the attitude test. And you want sympathy?
