this is a great article on just how stupid people can be: person done for going in a bus lane: but just look at the markings and signage.
Comedy gold, isn't it?this is a great article on just how stupid people can be: person done for going in a bus lane: but just look at the markings and signage.
"I've never committed a traffic violation in my life" - yes, you have. That's why you're whining about being nicked for driving down a bus lane, remember?
As for "They should put a no entry sign" - well, no, they shouldn't, because that would apply to buses, too. The rather large lettering on the road surface is a clue, as well as the signs...

And of course if the signs are not there on entry you do not know when the lane operates. Persoanlly I hate the Ones going past the University and up to Hyde park Corner in Leeds. They only operate in the evening between 4 and 7, (could be 6.30) but whatever time of day outside that I'm the only one using them.
Agreed. And then the squeeze from 2 lanes >1 lane at the lights, with cars edging out from that junction on the left. Assuming this is where you entered from the signage looks more than adequate http://goo.gl/G3bLxz

How about a no entry sign with the words underneath - except buses !?! "I've never committed a traffic violation in my life" - yes, you have. That's why you're whining about being nicked for driving down a bus lane, remember?

It clearly is confusing or not noticeable as 3000 people have been fined there. Im sure I have seen a no entry sign with except whatever....

Does that look particularly "confusing or not noticeable" to you? No, me neither.
3,000 in a year is eight per day. One every three hours. Does it come as a great surprise to you to learn there really are that many stupid people driving?

He was coming from the other direction though , so where it says bus and bike only in massive white letters, just on the right there's actually a turning area so you can avoid the bus lane.https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.014509,-3.125204...

Just me and you then. I hate sitting in crawling traffic either through Headingley or Kirkstall Road on a morning when they restrict the traffic at the worst possible time, but yet am the only person in the bus lane at other times when you're allowed to use itegor110 said:

I wonder how the google car got through the gap Unlucky for getting trapped by the scameras.
I've been done twice and so has my brother in Reading, in similar circumstances to you, and I did contest mine. 3 months later and a load of letters and, no joke, a stack of 'evidence' an INCH THICK came through the post.
They'd hand written to me, telling me I was breaking the law, rules of road, etc. and had scanned across to me chapter and verse, and had got a bloke out to photograph the tarmac and cameras to back them up.
Still heard nothing so far, from a 'tribunal'.
No justification for this waste of their time and mine, let alone money, I mustve been in the lane for 2 seconds max on an empty road at night. Stupid.
If I were you, contest it just to make it a pain for them.
Good luck!

Being local I know the mountway road has been bus only of best part of 10 years. Since the built the park and ride!
I assume the op is not local as this had pop up bollards but they kept failing so the council took them out. Couple of years ago it was known not to have anything in force but the apr cameras have been there well over a year and was advertised locally and in the paper for some time.
What grounds is the op looking to appeal on, a local guy got the sack from the may gurney waste partnership for using it as a cut through in his works vehicles.

I had the same(ish) recently
7:30pm on a Sunday. Clearly I was in the bus lane, but given the time/day I disputed it
Apparently the lane in question has been designated '24 hours' ...despite, well, not being 24 hours In use
They make the fines low enough people will just pay them and move on

At this point, due to the bend ahead, you can't see any lettering on the road. Placing the bus stop in front of the sign doesn't help either as a bus stopped there will mean the blue sign is invisible to other drivers. The Council could have made a much better fist of it had it wanted to. There are countless examples all over the country of poor signage relating to bus lanes. It's almost as if Councils deliberately set out to trap people.
Another poster above mentioned Reading. Until my daughter went to Uni there I had never driven in the area around the station. I was a total shambles and I only just managed not to get caught out by it. Since she left the road layout in Friar Street/Station Road has been radically changed.
