71 in a 60 on A47 Swaffham
Discussion
I had to drive from Stockport to Chesterfield on the A623 last week in a van
It's a twisty road with very few safe places to overtake but there are a couple of decent straights , it's a 50mph limit for the most part.
In front of me are 2 artics and a car, I follow for a few miles at 40mph then we get to the straight, the car just sits there like a mobile chicane
I give him a minute to go and he doesn't so I overtake him but by then I've lost too much of the road for a safe pass so I pull back in.
Then I spot it, on the only part of the road where it's safe to overtake slow moving trucks sits the speed camera van
Numerous villages they could sit in to get them at 40 in a 30 but no so now I'm waiting to see if I went over 50 overtaking the car

I seriously doubt it will be down to the operator .
I suspect, but cannot prove, it is down to what is written on your V5C.
Panel van will equal van limits.
Car derived van will equal car limits.
The reason for my opinion is my mate and myself, him in a 55 plate Ford transit Connect (panel van on V5C), myself in an 06 plate VW Caddy (car derived van on the V5C despite being the heavier load carrier of the two vans), him nicked, me not, on the A417/419 in Gloucestershire by their scamera mob, whilst travelling in convoy at 70 MPH.
Later VW Caddys (from 10 reg I believe), are panel vans on the V5C, but the earlier ones are listed (incorrectly) as car derived.
The scamera mob really are getting to be a pain in the arse regarding these limits now.
