Interesting comments from Roads Minister Robert Goodwill today that the Police should put resources into other things rather than easy to detect speeding.

Big cycling event, likely highly profiled...low tolerance of speeding in that area at that time? Seems understandable to me.
Exactly.

Somebody clearly had their brain firmly in neutral.

yonex usually i disagree with you.

However in this instance it is CASH CASH CASH for the police which equals JOBS.

The traffic department of our police are a revenue department - not a safety service, and I have had this from many former officers.

Either way a terrible advertisement for the police - another one (don't call the police after you have been burgled and the amount lost is over you NCD - PC plod will come around and waste your time until the end of his/her shift - experience!)

Since you and Tovie have both said really nasty things about me, can I cry "pack mentality"?

While I agree that the prosecution, if it was 34 in a 30, is indeed a pointless exercise, you are completely wrong with your above post. The police don't see a penny of the money and rightfully so. I

In reality it's the opposite to safety. We constantly have to check our speedos, rather than watching the bloody road.mad

Tony can you honestly only maintain a constant speed by staring at the speedo?

You don't even have to be that talented, you only need to stay at or below a speed.

Yes, those well established links between the central funding, precept and FPNs...

Not "other things", he was talking about resources into other motoring offences, namely, mobile phone usage. Surely another "easy target" and "revenue stream"?

Unlucky OP, and agree it is a pathetic sight to see. None of these speed traps make any difference, it's just revenue!

None, as a cyclist could go through the trap at 50 mph.
And not be do-able.

Speed Awareness Courses start at 35mph in a30 so no-go for that; it will need to be a fixed penalty. It will be interesting to see if the speed really was 34mph.
