No, he just can't be bothered to show us that it really happened.

34, 35, 36mph - what's the difference? Really?

34mph - very few believe anybody has ever been done for this speed. Nobody has ever provided any proof. It is below ACPO guidelines for up issuing a penalty

35 & 36mph - none of the above and many believe you can and probably will be done fir this amd offered an SAC where appropriate or worst case scenario an FPN.

Big difference between noting amd something.

So then, if the OP had said 36 instead of 34 then he would not have been derided over it - when there's really no real difference between the two.

Blimey, what an original question and one that I certainly didn't answer on Froday by writing thenpost below rolleyes

I call BS on these 34mph tales of woe every time as I'm sick of people posting it. Nobody has ever proven it, yet some have even claimed the even more ridiculous prosecution at 31mph.

People lie on here to make themselves seem important or to highlight how unjust some things are. Either way I don't care if people get done for speeding, but on a forum dedicated to motoring fun then being done for such a low speed does warrant further investigation

If he'd come on and said he'd been done for 38mph. Then the discussion would've died long ago with a "MTFU and take the punishment as it's hardly a disaster" or a mega long thread about how all speed limits should be abolished just like Germany where they have no speed limits anywhere at all wink

ffs
It may be an alien concept to you but some people would like to know the facts (ie the truth).

I habitually speed a little and I'd like to know if I would get a nip for 34mph.

No. too busy trolling on other threads. And calling other people liars which is a bit rich.

If you're looking for the truth then you've come to the wrong place.
If there's anyone here who does know, then they're not offering anything in the way of proof - one way or the other.

I think that if you're doing 30mph and a child runs out, you slam on the brakes and miss them by a millimetre, then at 32mph you would have hit them at 11mph and at 35 mph you would have hit them at 18mph.
Braking distances are certainly going to be longer, but 2mph extra resulting in 11mph faster at the previous stopping point? 5mph resulting in 18mph? Really...?
Not my equation, some bloke called Isaac Newton I think. But yes, really. The higher the speed the more experiential the distance. Something to do with kinetic energy multiplying by 4 as speed doubles, or some such technical whatsit. If you're doing 70mph when you hit the anchors, at the point in the road you get down to zero, you'd still be doing 71mph if you'd started at 100mph.
Trivially true, but irrelevant.

TwigtheWonderkid said:
But the fact that you can't believe it (and most people can't) just goes to show that people moan about getting done at 35 in a 30, but in reality have no real idea about the possible consequences of exceeding the limit by 5mph.

Still banging this drum I see.

You seem to have found yourself in disagreement with physics. Not a good place to be, unless you're pedalling psuedoscience that it.

It's not trivial. It's the difference between a near-miss and a serious pedestrian accident.

And it's not irrelevant. Because in a busy resisdential area I won't exceed 30mph for that reason. But on a clear stretch with good visibility and little foot/other traffic, I'll happily do the 34mph figure.

Cue realist1234, cmoose and Dr Jekyll.....
I predict Devil will be told that your 'war on speed' is boring and irrelevant and that semantics and self-determined driving prowess are what really matter.
The laws of physics are an inconvenient truth to those who hold the view that we should be able to drive at whatever speed we feel is appropriate for the conditions AND to be able to justify a lenient penalty if caught well over the limit.
These type of attitudes are what created the 'war on speed' in the first place, even if such a thing only exists in the minds of those people. I would argue that there is no such thing as the war on speed and by lashing out at those who enforce the laws it only serves to potentially become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
