Indeed. There will be a correlation between collision speed and travelling speed.
What's important is that those accidents that do occur above 30 mph will be the most severe ones.
We're back to a magic 30 again. Why is it important that the accidents above 30 will be the most severe? You could say the same thing about 35, or 25, or any other number you like and it would be just as true. What's important is that those accidents that do occur above 30 mph will be the most severe ones.

Yet despite all these factors it is one limit for all. And in the case of the 30 limit, decided by how far apart lamp posts are.
Is this how speed limits are really set?Do the councils/road builders just randomly decide the spacing when planting lamp posts, then someone comes along after and has a measure and decides the speed limit for the road?
I always assumed a speed limit would be decided and the lamp posts then spaced accordingly, or maybe something even more scientific.

There are no things wrong with what I posted, but let me answer your incorrect one quoted. If you drive with care, properly, you will never hit someone yourself.
Too bad many poor drivers cannot and have collisions.
Bizarre comment, so you're saying that your driving can alter the incompetents around you and 100% prevent them from crashing into you? Forget the defensive driving stuff. What happens if you're stopped at a set of lights and someone drives into the front of you?Too bad many poor drivers cannot and have collisions.
Sorry should have made that a bit clearer.

Doesn't make sense to me. If they want to cut RTCs why not improve driving standards instead of relying on a fixed limit that may or may not be safe depending on conditions?

Oceans razor suggests otherwise.
Wow aren't you clever! All hail Dammit! You missed the joke- it's Occam's razor, not Ocean's.
Dammit obviously knows this, you obviously don't, despite my having provided a clue earlier which should have had you wondering.

Do you have to insult others on the Internet to feel good about yourselves?
I'd get a life if I were you. Which I'm glad I'm not
