Have you seen how much the charge for a liability order is, best part of £100 and it only costs them a couple of quid to get it rubber stamped. They want you to miss a payment, its a whole new revenue stream for them.

I try and pay mine off early and then have a little chuckle that they have pissed it up the wall earlier than they could have done if I paid it over the whole year.

Is a Council, so they think they can do whatever they like.
yes

I used to own an awesome bachelor pad in a listed buidling in central Winchester. Unfortunately, the freehold was held by the city council. All sorts of shenanigans, including a substantial bill for a share of replacing the roof.

Enquiries from me were along the lines of 'What's wrong with the roof?' and 'Why haven't you followed your own stated procedures for tendering, advance warning etc?' (First I heard was a letter telling me who was doing the work, when, and how much I had to pay for it.)

Answers: 'Nothing, it's routine maintenance' and 'er... well... er....er'

So I wrote them a nice letter. They didn't reply, but they did instead send out a missive to all the leaseholders saying that they had decided not to go ahead.

Fun.
