A driver in excess of the statutory limit should be prosecuted with that offence rather than unfit, so the morning after or a month later shouldn't matter, if you're over the limit you're over it.
Over the limit but sober and fit to drive with no danger to anyone.

I can see a hell of a lot of people falling foul to the drug driving laws for THC. I can think of 10 friends right now, who if were pulled would be prosecuted. These are normal people, BT engineers, company directors, delivery drivers, electricians etc...

THC from skunk with ultra high levels of THC, to be honest I've been calling for a licence cull on a mass scale & I for one will be glad to see a lot less dozy ass'ed drivers on the road. Smoking skunk is an illegal activity, having been on the receiving end of the social results of drug dealing I for one am very happy with this new law.

I suggest your mates review their drug habits if this wish to remain drivers on the public road.

Over the limit but sober doesn't compute in my head.

Either way, its an absolute, measurable line that means we can easily prosecute the over the limit that do pose a danger to others.

I think that you're seriously underestimating how many people smoke weed. I was saying I can think of 10 friends as an example, I'd be surprised if there wasn't 5% of the entire UK population over the limit right now hehe

Compute this - If you take weed at 7pm monday (the effects last around 4-7 hours), you get pulled 2 days after (Wednesday) that person is 100% sober but over the limit. This is because it stays in the body longer even after the effects have worn off.

Considering the relevant timescale for drugs, I wonder if there will be a swing towards increased use in drugs which are quickest to leave the system?

Paul - I took it as drink not drugs. But, it depends on the threshold. A residual trace would be bad to make illegal. Detecting a higher level like drink would be good.

Amused - that point has already been made and is what was seen in prisons. In prison there is a zero tolerance.

Just been speaking to a pal and he actually said he may have to review his weed smoking due to the new laws.

Although now he's just said he'll have to "have 2pints, 2 burns of a spliff and a 1/8 of a valium tablet and off I go"

Said in humour, don't worry. Although I sensed an underlying truth...

I'm waiting to see what happens. They're will be many utterly sober people getting done for this and I am assuming that some level of sense will have to be applied, although sense and governments are rarely said in the same sentence.

I bet you would be impaired if you took the legal limit of booze, weed, coke, speed, valium and all the rest together - not fit to drive but under the legal limits.
