Police scotlands careers page say that their starting salary is about £23k a year, rising to £26k after initial training. Then incrementally thereafter. k peoples days off over for football and the annual EDL turnout. The days of the footy being staffed by bobbies on OT are long gone.

Pretty sure my mrs is working an EDL shift this weekend which she volunteered for so is getting paid. Im not sure if thats classed as overtime but its better than not volunteering and not getting paid?k peoples days off over for football and the annual EDL turnout. Dorset start on £19,838 or something around that. Not sure what we get after training though.From my perspective thats still alot more than what my salary is!

You always get your salary and do nothing for free but the habit certainly in my force is to place a blanket ban on rest days and make everybody work it for a day in the book. Its a stitch when you only get 1 weekend off in 4 and you spend it being shouted at by a bunch of EDL morons all day. If the EDL want to tip up and shout for a day they should pay for the policing and the shops that close for the day.If they're paying O/T and she volunteered fair play she needs to fill her boots.

Seems fair enough to me. Have been in many similar situations where volunteers were needed to work weekend at public events etc.I just wish my work had a capability to earn a bit more haha!
Flt sgt always gavethise who volunteered the days they worked back, but if we were short of numbers people would be 'voluntold' and wouldnt get anything back for it. Nor any mention on their annual appraisal report
