Pre 2001 cars do not need post code or kite mark.
It's not the year of the car that doesn't need them, it's the year the number plate was manufactured.I.e any number plate manufactured before 2001 doesn't need to conform to the latest regulations.
Number plates manufactured after 2001 do need to conform to the new regulations regardless of the car they're going on.
Exactly.
And: kite mark: mistake. I meant BS number.

Look at my 26 year old TVR and tell me how old my plates (without post code or BS number) are.
The angle at which the picture is taken makes it difficult to identify exactly what the blue strip on the left hand edge contains. Its existence suggests the plate was manufactured after 2001. Furthermore I'm pretty sure that whatever is being displayed in that area does not conform to the 2009 amendment which permits national flags and country identifiers.By my reckoning yours is a non-complaint 'show plate'. Prove me wrong.

Its on the car and got £100 fine.
The spacing between the characters looks a bit on the thin side on that example!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201223392029?_trksid=p20...
