Dont waste your time with WBAC, as soon as they look over it and find the rot they'll either refuse it or offer its true value of around £800.Its a 12 yr old car with serious rust issues, in reality in its present state its a scrapper.

Good luck OP. I bought a D1 from a independent trader just north of Manchester with 12months MOT, everything looked great based on initial inspection under the bonnet and poking around the chassis (£1500). After about 8 months i started looking at small repairs for the MOT, there is no way on gods green earth that it should have passed it's MOT previously, totally rotted through. Sold it to a bloke on a farm for £500 - he was going to break it or use it for some fun.

It was a great 8 months worth of off roading in it and greenlaning. I miss it.

As soon as WBAC see the rot (if its as bad as you say it is) they will throw a seriously lowball offer.

Get a couple more quotes for the work. If the car has performed well over the last year and is otherwise in good condition it may well be worth saving. What is the body condition/mileage like?

Thank you all for your comments. After doing my research regarding costs and reading your replies I now think the best thing for me to do is get the repairs done and trade the car in. I'll get another quote first though.

If it's half as rotten as you were suggesting, that's throwing good money after bad.

If the rust is not on the bodywork we buy any car will not look at the chassis.

My fabia vrs had basically lost 1st and reverse due to the input shaft floating around in the wind, looked on autotrader most I would of got for the car in a working condition was 2500 to 2700.

I got 2k for it at WBAC they never even drove it had a quick look round, started the engine and checked the air con worked.

I guarantee they will not go crawling around underneath it.

wouldn't you have to explain why it hasn't got an MOT though?

If the body is sound, why not throw a new chassis under it?

A replacement chassis is near £3k plus the job of fitting it, so that's not an option for me.
