I met another estate agent through work once who told me he went from selling houses to selling land on behalf of local authorities and schools etc. he said, as agents, they would sell the land to the developer that gave the biggest back hander in cash. He said that planners, councillors and other officials were all on the take. Not uncommon to get 10k in cash on a fair sized bit of land. This was paid by big house builders. Household names.

That's how 51 homes were built with 16 car parking spaces.
Don't forget John Two Jags Prescott's genius idea of limiting and restricting parking so that everyone would sell their cars and walk to work. Chauffeur driven tt that he was.

Who me ?

Check tax/MOT status on here - https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/.If missing and council/DVLA/Police passing the buck, it might be worth a dated photo of car, with the data from the gov.uk site shown on it, and pass details councillor/county councillor/MP complaining that in an area with limited parking you have a seemingly abandoned car and Police/DVLA are passing the buck.

Tell EA you're interested in buying the stheap, take for long test drive to a railway station, leave in station car park, throw away keys and get train home.

You just hit the nail on the head, get a friend to take the car for a spin with EA, then you can move your car to the empty spot, job done.

because it is parked up permanently, it doesn't get picked up on cameras.
The DVLA subcontractors have vans with ANPR cameras at each corner of the roof connected to a database of untaxed vehicles inside the vans... Your favourite estate agent's vehicle can stay parked, it will hopefully be spotted by the moving ANPR - they do drive around towns looking for untaxed vehicles - unless DVLA eventually act on your report and send them out wink .

Anyway, if it is on the road, is it insured? If so it must be taxed.

If it's not insured then it shouldn't be on the road - and if not insured it should be SORNed as well, so it (again) shouldn't be on the road.

Is it even registered to him? scratchchin (This last question is rhetorical.)

I did try speaking with him. I explained I have nowhere to park. He looked out his window and by chance a space became available so he said I can see a space now. This was on the phone.

He's a that doesn't care less about the next man.

but its not taxed...who is going to risk driving an untaxed vehicle just to get easier parking?

It may be taxed as the system changed last year.Although he has an out of date tax disk on his vehicle he could have renewed the tax online and so will show that it is taxed on the system.

I doubt it is illegal to display an out of tax disc as long as it has been renewed.Being an Estate Agent probably the sort of person who would not have an untaxed car on the road.

Does not solve the problem but check out his website and keep making bookings to view his properties and dont turn up.

See how he likes his own attitude.

I don't want to talk to the guy face to face because I have a 15k car that I park on the same road. He wanted 3.5k for his hiace. If it turns ugly and/or heated, he has a 15k car to cause small but expensive damage to. He might not. But equally, he might.

Right now he doesn't know who I am beyond being a resident of one of the twenty houses on the block

It is a working class area in zone five of london. 350k for a three bedroom terraced house.

I'm sure that's the only reason. Good luck.
