dodgy roofer - what can i do
Discussion
I had my roof done 2 years ago - ridge tiles cemented. House is 4 bed detached so roof a decent size. Roofer gave me printed receipt that said work was guaranteed for 10 years. Have called him 8 times now to come over and rectify the work every time he tells me he will be over next week. Never turns up. What are my options? Trading standards dont want to no now do they? Small claims court?
Work was about £750
Fiddler on the roof?
Sorry, couldn't resist, I'll .
Joking apart , it may well be worth your while contacting "consumer direct" (or whatever they are called today - they were the "public access portal" for Tradng Standards the last time I needed them ) and speaking to them (including details of the printed receipt with the 10 year promise)? As a starter for ten, anyway .

Looking at your pictures it looks like the ridge tiles have just been "buttered up" - i.e. the roofer has just knocked off some of the old sand/ cement and "re-pointed" them.
This never lasts - the new pointing just falls off.
The only way to do the job properly is to remove and re-bed the tiles.
What did the invoice say/ what did he charge you for ? (£750 is a lot, even for a proper job by the way).
