My advice would be just ignore it. You're only 20 and like to spend your money as you see fit so the normal rules of society won't apply. In fact when you do end up in court just point them in the direction of this thread - I'm sure it will all be 'fine'.

Some more advice, watch out for dropped soap unless you really like making new friends biggrin

Seriously though, just pay it and get on with your life.

Can you not see the problem with this? The court has issued you with a 'fine', that's your punishment for your offence and it's supposed to be a little painful so you'll get little sympathy if you suggest you haven't paid off your fine because it compromised your social life. The reason you didn't pay it off straight away is understandable but you do need to drop the excuses, man up, contact them, and start paying it off immediately.
I had completely forgotten until now. I don't have the entire amount right now, was just asking how I go about paying some now and the rest on pay day?

Not wanting to be told that I am too poor and I am a burden on tax payers. I pay my own tax, I work full time. I just don't have £200 sat spare right now....

I would if I had the entire amount right now, just wondering how I go about paying half now and half in 2 weeks or so.

I had genuinely forgotten about it and just happen to not have the entire amount in my bank right now.

Then borrow what you don't have and pay off your fine before paying back the loan. It's not rocket science. You have no right to keep borrowing interest-free from the State. You're 20, not 10.

This kind of attitude infuriates me. If you cant afford to pay it straight away, put yourself in a position to do so, rather than expecting someone else to pick up the tab for your delay and inability to manage your finances.

Interest free from the state? The state felt the need to fine me £200 for speeding. I didn't borrow money?

I haven't got any loan for that car, it had already sold, I was just saying that right now, I don't have the money spare for 2 weeks or so....

When your recent posting history includes looking at a newish BMW and buying steering wheels for an x-box one I'd suggest you could find the money to pay the fine and should do so. Things people don't do include "forgetting" about "that day you spent in court".

As others have suggested stop burying your head over this and either pay or get a payment plan in place if it genuinely is a struggle to find the money.

Yes I could afford the monthly payments on a newish bmw. Deposit paid by selling current car. Xbox was a gift to me. You don't know my current situation.
I was genuinely broke for 3 months and by then I had forgot about about the fine as I never got another letter about it until last week. Just wondering how I go about this if I can't pay it all right now?
You're right, nobody on this forum is familiar with your situation. But the situation we are familiar with is that you are a 20 year old who values your social life and being accustomed to living a lifestyle you probably cant afford. What would you do if your car has a sudden bill which you require being fixed? Get a garage to fix it then say "I'm sorry I really cant afford to pay this bill right now, I'll pay you down the line after I've bought my next car on finance"?

Even if you had this fine "suddenly pop up" or not, it seems that you have much to learn about finances, sacrifice, what you can and cannot afford and contingency.

But in answer to your actual question, you can probably organize monthly repayments which will be deducted depending on how much you can "afford". My advice is don't take the piss, and actually pay a decent amount in rather than £5 a month until the end of time. And let this be a lesson on the realities of money.

You could ask the police. Or indeed the court. Maybe even contact the people listed on any paperwork you have.

All of the above will give you better advice than us. Although this thread does contain a lot of good life advice you might want to take on board...

I have had sudden bills for my car, had to wait to pay day to get it fixed, had to have a turbo rebuilt, did all the work myself except that. Keeps bills down. I dont own a car on finance right now, I had applied for one, I've got a 83 cherry and 01 3 series owned by me with no finance. I didn't remember I had this fine, so hadn't kept money for it. I know my own personal monthly bills and what I have spare to spend on whatever.

I know I should have money spare, £5 a month is a joke, I want to just pay £100 now and £100 in 2 weeks. All I was asking is how I do this.

Being only a year older than the OP, it amazes me that someone can have this sort of attitude.

'I have a social life'. So you'd rather spend all your money on going boozing or enjoying yourself rather than paying off the fine you need to pay. Also, as someone else has said, if something happens and you need to generate money, such as your car breaking, you'd have to just leave it broke and would be unable to use it. That's assuming of course that you wouldn't borrow the money, you're not for this fine though so I'm going to assume you wouldn't.

OP, I'm assuming youll be paying for your insurance on your BM monthly? How much is that going to cost for a 20yr old?
If things are that tight right now, do what the rest of us have to do...drive round in a banger until you can afford to have something nicer. Not a BM with the associated higher running costs.
Without being rude or repeating what others have said, it's time to grow up and start being a bit more responsible for yourself.

Unless, of course, this was a troll thread. In which case, well done. Well done indeed.

Have you thought about contacting the court and asking them?

Its quicker and easier to start a thread with a trolly title, explaining your highly complex situation, ask for advice, wade through pages of comments suggesting you are immature and FFS sort yourself out, and to reply to lots of them defending your thought process.

Apparently !

I pay just £80 a month to insure my bmw, done my previous years insurance in 1 payment, just don't plan on letting this policy run a full year.

I'm not struggling each month, I just know what I have spare so I spend it. I had just genuinely forgot about this fine which I really couldn't sfford at the time, I even had to give up driving as I couldn't afford it at the time.

To clarify here, I just don't have the full amount in my bank right now. Not saying I can't afford it in one go this week.

"I know what I have spare, so I spend it". There. Stop spending your "spare" money until you've saved up the grand total of the hundred quid that you haven't got, and pay off your fine.

I have.... Hence asking how I pay half now (what I have) and half the day I get paid....

Not trying to pay £5 a month.

What did the court say? You've had a few hours to give them a bell.

When you got the fine didn't the court ask you how you'd like to pay it ?
Or do you just walk away and are expected to deal with it ?

For now I'd put £100 in a jar and then in 2 weeks take it and another £100 and go and pay the fine.
Nothing will probably happen between now and then anway.
If the police insist you fill out the means to pay form then just say you can pay £100 now and £100 next month.
Very simple !
