To clarify here also then - contact the court! Explain circumstances. Ask to pay £100 x 2 instalments.

You appear to be burying your head in the sand because you are worried about what they will say. Honestly though, getting an honest dialogue going now with the court will be better than hoping for some bullst 1 year amnesty.

Hope it goes well. hippy

To be fair to the lad, he does actually intend to pay off the fine sharpish, and we (especially I) have jumped on some of the slightly silly comments he made and had a go at him.

I apologise.

OP, you should contact the court, make the £100 payment in accordance with their instructions (i.e. to what bank account, etc) and explain that the remaining £100 will come in two weeks.

There's a lot of sensible advice on here about always having a fair bit of "flab" in the system - lots of spare money at the end of every month. It is very easy to budget away every penny of your earnings and then get stung.

But none of that is directly on point, and I acknowledge and respect that you are going to sort out the fine ASAP.

Am I getting this right, OP does have the money but he doesn't to pay it all in one go right now as it will intervene on his partying?

This is a joke right?

If we ignore the self righteous attacks (which are legitimate in this case). They will let you pay it off monthly... I finance parts of my life like this... I have the money to clear my credit card in the bank - but chose to use an interest free card to spread it out.

So just arrange a repayment OP and don't worry.

For the record - I chose to do run my finances like that so I can book holidays and have a social life!!! There is no difference.

No I don't, but it's why I don't have the money too as I hadn't saved any for this, as I said many times, had forgotten I had it.

But you've says a couple of times now, that you have spare money at the end of each month but you choose to spend it on your social life. If you were that conscientious, you would sack off the fun until you'd payed it all back. Fairly simple surely.
I can't help but read between the lines of your OP and think that you were hoping that the advice you'd already been given of not having to pay at all as its been over a year, would be confirmed on here.

I had Rang them this morning, their system is down until tomorrow so they can't do anything today. One of the reasons I asked here.

Court fines are and can be written off quite easily. No one has told him now on here. Personally for £200 I'd pay it. But if he claimed poverty there is a good chance they would write the fine off. Especially if he'd spent a night in the cells.

If you've ignored it a year and they've sent you a little reminder there will be time to pay it within 2 weeks.

Give the 'forgot' a miss as well, most people here are old enough to have heard it many times over, you hoped it would go away, it didn't so deal with it.

Yes I can afford it monthly, doesn't mean I always keep money? I have a social life, I'm only 20, I go out and enjoy my money.
Seriously? Pay your due before your YOLO bullst filter kicks in! Only 20 = adult so try acting like one.

Not in my experience. People are frequently arrested on means enquiry warrants, spend a night in the cells then appear in court. The outcome is invariably that they are given further time to pay at whatever rate the court decides. It is an unusual occurrence for the fine to be written off.

If I can't pay the whole amount right now, what happens? Can pay it off come next pay day.
Just done a bit of digging & this link tells you about fines/non-payment for speeding in Scotland.
https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/taking-action/pay-a-...
Contains this bit:
"What happens if I don’t pay my fine?
If you don’t pay, we can:

Clamp your car or vehicle and ultimately sell it to repay your fine.
Contact your employer and arrest your wages
Contact your bank and arrange for any assets to be frozen
Arrange with DWP for direct deductions from your benefits."

Well done for getting the ball rolling by contacting the court though. Soon as it's cleared you cn get back to normal.

I think you should go to court and tell them this. Also mention the Xbox and the new BMW. They'll understand and apologise for wasting your time.
