I take it that we'll be getting a thread about how you get it back home now, especially as the petrol is now evaporating and pushing your VED rate up.
No, why would I do that? I'm not going to try and get into an argument with you, I asked a question, got reasonable answers and then you came along, if you have an issue with a thread don't post on it. Have you got nothing better to do then try and cause arguments with strangers on the Internet?
It's at the garage waiting to be worked on tomorrow.

I imported a car from Eire and brought it in on the ferry to Wales. I live in Hertfordshire.

I spoke to DVLA about all i had to do and the person I spoke to said I was perfectly legal to drive directly from the Ferry to my rebooked MOT as long as I did not stop at all except if directed to by road signage or a policeman. I laughed and said I would have to stop for fuel and he said, in all seriousness. "No, that is not permitted at all"

I was flabbergasted. I did stop for fuel. In fact we stopped for fuel twice and a rest stop and I even dropped my father off home in Berkshire. I decided to assume as I was complying with the spirit of the law I would be fine.

The DVLA are incapable of listening to reason and they are accountable to no one.

I'm not the only one taking the pee, so don't be so indignant.

Over the phone and calling them a halfwit is over egging their credentials. They would aspire to be a half wit, they were full dumbnuts.

That could have been an interesting interview: "You see, Officer, I fell asleep at the wheel because the DVLA told me I couldn't stop no matter what" biggrin
