Why are people so surprised at using a tweet to contact an organization or company?

Did you all mock and giggle when email was first introduced?

I've seen several issues / problems sorted via social media as opposed to more traditional methods of communication.

Shhhhh I've had some really good outcomes using Twitter too, but don't go broadcasting it.

To answer your question, lots of people still eschew e-mail and twitter - but this is not a bad thing - let's just get on and leave them to it.

yes good stuff social media, had very quick responses from the train company that run the line i commute on for info, used to log calls via a forum for phone issues, always sorted quickly, rather than spending hours on the phone to a call centre etc.

A mate had this issue a while ago. He was advised by the police to put a random sticker (even a GB sticker) on the rear of the car, that way if you do get zapped by a camera then you can help identify it as not being you.

Some time ago I received a letter from Surrey police saying I had been reported for using a restricted road in Coulsdon, if I remember correctly. I was told that if i did it again I would be prosecuted. I had independent proof my car was elsewhere at the time and wrote back, with a copy to the CC, asking for the evidence and could they confirm it was the same make and model that had been observed compared with the VRN. The letter stated that the residents of the said road were very concerned that the restriction continued to be ignored. I wrote that I am sure that in this time of stress on police time that they must surely be grateful that the Police were doing anything about it, let alone writing letters.
I received a phone call from a flustered WPC telling me there had been a mistake somewhere between it being reported by a resident and the VRN retrieval.

Like I said sssshhhh. Remember twitter is crap and only for people with beards/spots, right - if everyone starts using it it'll be as bad the call centres smile

Yep but they'll send you the photo of the speeding car without quibble ! No data protection issues there.

I doubt he was ever in the SAS, no self respecting blade, serving or otherwise would advertise that on a car forum...

Still, if you're around 22Rgt, whose boots are in the officers mess and what gun is in the Sergeant's Mess? And one more, which charity bucket is in the entrance to the cookhouse?

Doubt he'll respond though... :-)

You're late to this, I feel. All these questions have been asked before. But this sly fella comes in, spouts some obvious, knobbish bu||sh|t, then fks off again, never to he seen or heard on that thread again.

He's obviously very thick-skinned, and even more obviously as thick as sh|t, with everyone laughing at him.

He boasts at being a powerfully built 18 stone, I kid you not. (He doesn't offer the additional info that he's only 5'2 tall, and thus a wee fat bd.)

Oohhh THAT 22Regt. There was me thinking it was 22 Regt RA, the Kirton Linsey Cloud Punchers. A legacy of my time with gun-bunnies methinks. Btw my wife could answer your trick question having been to the Offrs' Mess for a Christmas function last year. And the barstaff at T** I******* will probably supply the answers to the other questions.

Can't stand Walts!
