She is not sure of the mechanism of taking over the accounts as her main job is to make sure the customers are happy after their call,E-mail etc so basically if the people take a call for something like theft of their vouchers they pass it to her.She did say that their are at least 6 E-mail addresses that keep coming up quite often, the customer is always reimbursed if it genuine but their are loads of customers that try to con her by saying they have not received the vouchers or lost them but she tells then when and where they spent them so know they are being dishonest.

Every theft to vouchers and it seams to be random amounts is reported to the Tesco fraud team along with issues with internet shopping, home shopping, staff fraud etc and they work closely with a police dept that deals with this fraud. It seams to be getting worse and although the thieves my think it is minor as they are vouchers but actually they are stealing money.
It is good to know Tescos are taking it seriously. I didn't lose anything in the end and actually Tescos were very good at this, it took a fair while to unravel it all as the thieves had used disposable email addresses to move between until they set up a yahoo one. Using my name.

I have said that there should be alarm bells rung if someone tries to change more than one key contact detail at once and then orders stuff.

I tried reporting to the police who said that as I hadn't lost anything I couldn't report it.

I am still perplexed how they got into my account as it was not via the attached email address, that is ring fenced and secure.

I sooooo wanted to go to the store but it is in Surrey and I am in Hertfordshire and I am not a powerfully built director and I have no beard, goatee or otherwise, but I am a weak and feeble woman. I probably would have shouted "Thief" and then run away like a girl. Hopefully Tescos did something and hammered frozen sausages into their heads or something of that ilk.

I suppose it would fall to Tesco to phone the police then as they're the ones who've lost out, even though they've only lost out as they reimbursed you because technically you were stoled from even though it was Tesco points not real money, but whatever, that's bureaucracy for you, not ours to wonder why.
At least Tesco have plenty of frozen sausages with what to hammer. If it's a bigger Tesco they might even have the hammers smile

They cannot do this by just switching email addresses as you need the digits on your club card to confirm...

As stated the mobile will be PAYG and probably binned off by now, however no harm in taking out a free ad on Gumtree or something with the promise of cheap kittens or a Land Rover Defender etc etc etc

No you don't. I have the club card in my possession. You just need to log in.

The only way we could track the account was through the clubcard attached to it which I had with me. They had changed every other bit of information (phone number, delivery address, email etc) but not the club card stuff.

I had this problem. Had 6/700 worth of vouchers. Took 2 years to sort it out fully. Right pain in the sr$e.
How do you accumulate £700 worth of voucher? How much do you spend in Tesco!

I have a Tesco credit card and use it to pay for lots of long haul flights, hotels, car hire, petrol, general purchases etc etc.

Soon mounts up.

Don't actually do much shopping in a Tesco.

Use the vouchers to pay Eurotunnel, mags, special offers where you get xxx times the value of the vouchers.

You can get a good return on the vouchers if used wisely.
