Morning all, I just got back from Belgium and and got flashed by a gatso in France, does anyone know what the outcome will be?
I was driving my brother in laws car and I was doing about 150kph in a 110kph limit on the motorway between calais and the Belgian border, it was a rear facing camera on the central barrier.
Thanks

Assuming it's a UK reg car you won't hear anything, in France you only currently have to pay up if you get stopped.

That is correct. I've been flashed umpteen times in France. Never heard a peep. If I did the letter would be filed in the round cabinet that sits beneath my desk.

In a UK reg car you'll be fine - no matter what speed you get flashed at or how often, there is nothing they can do. The only way you can get caught speeding in a foreign car in France is by a policeman with a radar gun.

Do they keep records so that if you return and do get stopped then 37 unpaid fines show up when they check the car reg.

Yes you may have bought he car last week and it may have all been the previous owner by try arguing that with Le Flic on the outskirts of Calais at 11:00pm

This is why you take your V5 with you. Shows date of transfer to your ownership.

I get flashed several times every time I go (2/3 times a year) mostly in the awesome bouchon avoiding A86 duplex tunnel under Paris - empty and a 70kph limit with a steep decline, almost impossible to hold it without riding the brakes!

I did get liberated of EUR70.00 18 months or so back but that was a physical stop.

Parking fines (invoices) can be different though as I recently read that foreign enforcers are using the services of a UK based company to access DVLA records and chase overdue payments, the sneaky bds...

Probably the very same camera and location, same speed, that shot me, 2013.

Forget about it.

For what it's worth, when I was living in Luxembourg, I got flashed in France and they did send the speeding fine to me in Lux. I don;t know if the UK has signed up, but most of Europe now has an accord whereby they will send speeding fines cross border.

I even have "virtual points" on my "virtual licence" in Germany. In theory, if I speed there too much, they can ban me from driving in Germany, even though I can still drive outside. Beware in Germany with the changes in the speed limits on the autobahn, where you can go from unrestricted to 80kph in 200 metres. They will brutalise you if they catch you, and they have a lot of mobile cameras in parked civilian cars…….

I'm sure the answer is no. I've had the same numberplate on three cars over the last 8 years. 3 physical stops and relieved of Euro 90 on each occasion. Many flashes in between and they have never been brought up by the Gendarmes who stopped me. I doubt if they even check. If I don't have the Euro 90 with me then it's a straight trip to the nearest cashpoint.

Not trying to act holier than thou or anything but the French, for all their faults, are rather helpful in signing their cameras. In 20 years of driving in France I think I have set off one, once on one of their single lane bridges on the road to LM.

I've been flashed on French roads many times over the years, never heard a peep. I think April 2013 I went to see my parents and got done 4 times in one day. Then in September I was involved in a RTA on French roads and the Police took my details, I was worrying that perhaps my previous tickets might be linked to my registration plate but they never said anything.

Your only problem is getting physically stopped. Got a ticket in Denmark for 400 euro's and was driven to a cashpoint to pay up. Painful experience but the coppers were very very friendly. He was apologetic for giving me such a big fine.
