(edited for brevity)I would say that it is very likely the Coppers that pulled him, just clipped his wings a little bit by mentioning something to the insurance company they, maybe shouldn't have
No maybe about it- doing what they allegedly did would be a criminal offence. If this is the case then they deserve whatever consequences come their way; I would hope & expect that all police who support the rule of law would agree.

I wonder which firm's call recording solution was used?

Sounds like a cracking advertorial for the 2015 brochure, or a 'case study'. Something new to tell prospects when pushing the importance of having a decent, reliable call recording solution.

Ideal for 'learning lessons' too. Cue hand wringing, concerned face smiley.

I wouldn't trust the Police at any time I have interaction with them, that is not saying that all Police are bent stitch up merchants they are not, and it's not saying I hate the Police I don't.

But attitude is everything, and I suspect your attitude to the coppers, who pulled you over for a LEGITIMATE reason is why you are having problems now. You need to learn from this.

More than one way to skin a moody wide boy .

What was the sentence on your GBH, the sentence will have a direct effect on whether the conviction was spent or not.
the initial pull was for not wearing a seat belt. the police were wrong, the op had a black top on and was wearing his seat belt. considering the cuts made to police during the last parliament i would not have thought they had the time for "skinning moody wide boys".

As he wasn't there, it can only be from the OP's own words on here.

The police can't fine anyone. They can only report with the result that a conditional offer of fixed penalty may be offered, or a summons to a court of law issued. Only a court of law can impose a fine.
