One tyre flat as a pancake on my Leaf (on our driveway). No spare just a can of goo, and the goo didn't seal what appears to be a bigger slash than I thought.

Leaf runs on 205/55/16. I have a spare 195/65/15 on our i30. If as it appears I can't get a mobile fitter to come for days can I put the R15 spare on the Leaf for the 3 mile trip through town to the tyre place?

I know that space savers are OK but although skinny I thought they had a similar diameter to the tyre they replace. This would be 5% smaller.

Just do it , space savers are usually smaller than the originals.

It's a spare.

You are not expected to use it for the next 50,000 miles as you are too tight to get your tyre repaired/replaced.

No idea but I'd take the chance if it was me.

The internet suggests a 1mm difference in centre bore sizes although the PCD is apparently the same - that would be more of a concern to me - but it looks like the right direction to still fit on and close enough not to cause serious bother.

OK - will see if tyre place has a van they can send out. Otherwise do swapsies and limp the car to them on the 15". Thanks for the quick replies!

Let's face it, when was the last time you got stopped by the police....for me it was about 5 years ago, but I never got done for fast acceleration, which is a more serious crime than a skinny tyre, I would expect. smile

Why not just take the wheel to the tyre place in your i30?

Because I'm driving to work in it!

could be legal if the spare is a temporary use spare, if it's a full size spare though, it's certainly not

i would be surprised if it fits though

If you haven't already dealt with this challenge then I suggest calling your breakdown/recovery service to get you to the tyre place. fking stupid idea supplying cars without spare wheels - turns out the spacesaver nonsense was the thin end of the wedge!

Would very much doubt the wheel will fit - usually have different PCDs between different manufacturers, different bolt lengths etc.

Just go to tyre place on Saturday or get mobile fitter to come to you.
