Morning all,

Got a fine through the post at the weekend for driving in a bus lane (Scotland, Aberdeen City Council) but the Reg noted isn't my car and the picture shows another different car.

So how do I deal with this as there is no phone number to complain?

1. I know I wasn't around there at that time as I was at work so defiantly not me
2. How did they get my details from a car not registered or has ever been registered to me (Reg also isn't even close to my reg)?
3. How do I respond, do I fill in Section 2 which you have to state who the driver is and just write a note saying, not my car, not registered to me, admin error?

Thanks

Just send it back to them saying that you don't own this car, never have done, and suggest they re-check their records.

The registered keeper's probably nominated you.

Just send it back saying "Not me, no idea who it was."

Defiantly is actually written 'definitely', in case you use it in a letter.

Hmmm. I think you'll find that 'defiantly' is actually written 'defiantly', and 'definitely' is actually written 'definitely'.biggrin

And add, and have never driven the pictured car either, assuming that is true in case the owner 'nominated' you as the driver. Short and sweet response that covers all bases.

Probably a miss-reading of the plate. Reply politely with a simple statement. Do not ignore.

Being a bus lane ticket, wont it be down to the registered keeper and not have the option to nominate anyone else??

As above, return it noting that it is not your vehicle and that you have never owned nor driven it.
Sent is recorded delivery. Then you need do no more.

Haha sorry for the spelling error...auto correct smile

Well if the owner has nominated me did they just take a random punt at an address in the hope they would pay it? Not a clue who it is and never seen the car before! Random!!

Before sending it back, take photos/scans of all of the paperwork. Just in case this doesn't go away quite so easily.

Yes.

Someone in Burnley nominated me as driving their car, and told them I was living up there.

The first I heard about it was when the DVLA wrote to me, informing me that in 7 days time my licence was being revoked for not sending it to them to endorse it. I'd been taken to court in my absence.

Wow quite scary that people do this and I guess sometimes get away with it?! Managed to get an official e-mail address to respond too but seems to be a generic city wardens one so don't hold too much hope...will see what they say!

Sister had a similar issue, she rang them up, they checked and saw the mistake, nothing else came of it

Given the circumstances, the OP was at work, surely he is entitled to be defiant! smile
Just make sure the autocorrect doesn't amend it to being DEFINITELY him!!
