do we not get reminders anymore?

just got a moody letter from DVLA enforcement saying i didnt tax one of my cars when it was due at the end of april.

fined £80 and £20 arrears in tax.

its certainly not a problem to tax the vehicle but i never received a reminder or form or anything.

i know that the tax disc itself is no more, but they cant of stopped notification to owners surely?

Do you always rely on 3rd parties to remind you on stuff you are responsible for?

generally not.

i'll ignore your tone and answer that having paid car tax for the past 17 years on multiple vehicles, the reminder does indeed come in handy.

im not trying to dispute the fine, it is what it is, i just queried the lack of reminder service.

you can crawl back under your rock now.

You do still get a reminders sent out. I would imagine the car was either registered at a previous address or the reminder was lost in the post. Either way, just mark it on the calendar next time. Takes 5 seconds.

Certain things I certainly do, one being insurance renewals, I have no idea when my car or home insurance is due, the tax disc being on the car, it was a clearly visible clue previously.

So you are relying on the Royal Mail to prevent you from driving without insurance! More fool you.

What a waste of money. Just make your own and print of if you really need a paper reminder.

awfully kind of you.

i am quite capable of using it -years of routine reminders have obviously made me dim.

its all irrelevant now anyway as its paid, done and dusted.

Are you sure you haven't got the wrong end of the stick and this is the reminder, you used to get more than 3 weeks grace in the past
