For possible reference I got caught in the exact same circumstances (and speeds) about 10 years ago but I didn't have any previous. Went to court and got 6 points and £400 fine.
Unless I missed something, or you are referring to someone else, where did Jamesp24 say he was caught, couldn't find it in the thread.

It seems quite clear from the thread title and his opening post.

Are you sure you've been offered an FPN (£100 and 3 points) and not received an NIP / S.172 requirement i.e. to name who was driving during the offence?

That speed is way beyond the FPN threshold.
I once got 3 points for 57 in a 30, not quite 64 but close, that was coming out of an NSL zone into a 30 and not slowing down as I passed the 30 sign.

Out in the sticks where I live there are plenty of 30 zones that should be NSL and plenty of NSL zones that should be 30 limits, the number on the sign often seems completely arbitrary.

Fingers crossed,it's a ban.

64 in a 30 WTF?
That's an indicated 70mph on his speedo.
Not that old chestnut again.

Most speedo's these days are accurate within 2mph.

You don't need a speedo to know you are driving over twice the speed limit.

How do you know the OP's driving a modern car?

Judging by his profile the car's 30 years old

They cannot under-read, They may over-read. By definition they will all overhead slightly on new tyres, etc to provide a user margin for when the tyres are worn (but probably only 1-2%)

Aha! Just read what you said, I thought you meant in the same place, not same situation, thanks for that, must give the little grey cells a rattle.

More than 30 over any limit and you face the very real prospect of a ban unless you are very lucky. Good luck!

For all the 30mph you are a loon for doing 64mph posters this is a 40mph limit https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.05741,0.018387,3...
Don't see many repeater signs to confirm it is a 40 limit (other than the paint on the road surface)
Regularly spaced painted Road roundels can be used in lieu of lollipop repeaters.
I don't think I knew that.

And after some checking, the painted roundels on the road can only be used in conjunction with upright signs.

Terminal signs must be uprights. The option is available for repeaters.

But what do I know, I only do it for a living.

Well I don't believe it, someone on a motoring forum is interesting in motoring....

fking hell
that isn't an interest in motoring, posting it on you tube is pretty prick-ish and 64 in a 30 is definitely prick-ish

I have a letter with exactly that...option 1 fixed penalty or to be dealt with by court ? st driving indeed im not going to argue with that.
Is this letter sent to the registered keeper asking you to identify the driver? when you have identified yourself and they write back the letter would explain the recorded speed was outside the threshold to be dealt with by means of a fixed penalty and you will receive a court summons. Points or STD upto 56 days + an income related fine. For double the limit in a residential area/temp reduced speed zone I would be taking you off the road. 6 point option may be considered if you use your car as part of your employment as a way to force you to modify your driving behaviour for a couple of years or risk 6 months on the bus but then you might end up back pleading hardship to keep your licence and it would have been a waste of time

Yes. Son or daughter using dad's computer, for example.

The bullst factor in this thread is too high. No way would 64 in 30 be dealt with by FPN.

Hmmm thinking I got hard done by yesterday in court - 6 points and a £525 fine for 87mph in a 60mph temporary restriction - on the M42 - driving a 17 year old 4x4 (not that it matters).

^ Bad result. 5pp would normally be expected if the case was handled sensitively.

I was also in court yesterday. 59/30. 14 day ban. Avoided points therefore avoided a 6m+ totting up disqualification. Client is serving out the sentence on a Spanish beach. cool
