Agreed and that is coming from a smoker. I do smoke in my car, makes traffic slightly more bearable. Would never do it with kids in the car, or other people really, I'll ask if it bothers them and if it would I don't. Unless they're good friend and I know the answer already of course.
Remarkable that people need to be fined £50 when it should just be common sense. Considering a lot of parents just plow ste food into their kids they clearly have no thought for their future health so I guess they don't even think about the smoking thing.

I do smoke when my Mrs is in the car, she is a non-smoker but she doesn't drive not contribute to costs so fair game. Same for mates, if they want a lift somewhere for free then I'll be smoking, if they're contributing I won't be.

Although I'd never smoke with kids in the car, what sort of negligent dheads do that st...

Good. I saw two women smoking in a car the other day with two babies in seats in the back. How can people be so stupid/ignorant etc etc.

I'm not a smoker, I don't have kids but if I did have I wouldn't do it anywhere near them.

However I think this is meddling gone too far. What next cameras in people's houses to make sure they're behaving the way society expect them to?

Not good at all.

There was a woman on the radio the other day saying that banning smoking in cars altogether is the next step to avoid confusion. She must think smokers are stupid. I fully agree with not smoking while kids are in the car though.

Sooner it's banned anywhere outside the smoker's own home the better.

The problem is, when regular stupid and selfish behaviour causes harm to others, you HAVE TO legislate against it, otherwise people will just carry on doing it.

Clearly thousands of people see no problem at all poisoning their own children with cigarette smoke on a daily basis, therefore there is no other option than making it illegal.

Simply asking them nicely won't work.
