I expect they'd look at it with contempt and disdain.

In advanced driving something like this is celebrated as a measure of skill. I've heard of it with a glass of water but never this...

That has to be the best lurking I have ever seen.

Now on to the question, I believe if you use a sorned car, apart from the financial penalty the car could also be clamped or impounded and cost a fortune to get back. As for no MOT I don't believe your vehicle can be impounded if you are stopped so its just a fixed penalty for the offence.

If I am correct the above seems about right, do something that could affect the safety of the vehicle and its just a slap on the wrist, deprive the government of tax revenue and its a draconian punishment.

That's a proper Clotted cream right there, Roddas is the best.

As for the OP, I believe the currant situation is at yeast a 6 month flan if caught doing over a bun.

Good luck.

To be fair to the OP - to give the benefit of the doubt, he MAY have been being ironic and making a joke?

I only say this, because ever since the SORN for vehicles began, I also dubbed it 'SCORN' from day one....

Fine for driving without tax is £80 fixed penalty, driving while sorned i don't think can be dealt with as a fixed penalty so the fine can be up to £5k
in both cases the car can be seized with around a £200 fee for that.

But if you wish to drive it to a prebooked MOT so you can then tax it there is an exemption, but if it passed it's MOT you have to remember to tax it before you drive it home.

Never. It's still legal to drive back from a MOT test without tax.

You are right you can drive it away again
but you can't park it on the road or in a public place, so provided you have somewhere private to park it, which in these circumstances the OP most likely does or where would he be keeping it now, you can drive it back again.

There was a post a few months back from someone claiming to have been clamped within an hour of returning from getting an MOT

Considering you can't leave an untaxed car on the road anyway...
