9 Points on license & now caught by speed camera, what ban?

I'm not defending my actions by any stretch. If I did the crime then I'll do the time, no problem.
I've 2 previous convictions amounting to 9 points. Both were camera based, 1 on dual carriageway and 1 on Mway. Prior to that the only other conviction I ever got was some 27 years ago when I'd just passed my test.
My comment about it being perhaps a little harsh is in relation to a chap in work who tore round a corner on a country road and collided with a stationary car putting 2 people in hospital and only got a 3 month ban.
2 prior convictions giving you 9 points. That means you either got 4 points for one and 5 for the other or 3 for one and 6 for the other. So what's the story there?I've 2 previous convictions amounting to 9 points. Both were camera based, 1 on dual carriageway and 1 on Mway. 3 and 6.Yes, yes, I know, and I've put my hand up to it, I'm not one to not acknowledge my short-comings. Both of those I saw the 'flash' in my rear view mirror and instantly knew I'd done wrong. Both times I got that pit-of-stomach "oh b*ll*cks" moment.
This one is 'different'. No pit-of-stomach moment. No 'flash' and I've never not recognised the cameras existence (as I approached it) before. It's a 50 limit on a rural semi-busy dual carriageway at 6:30pm where everyones brake lights come on in front of you. It's almost unthinkable how I did this one.
But if I did then I must take whatever 'hit' is headed my way. Trust me, my wife is on my case 24/7 about it at the moment. So I'm just trying to get a bit of forewarning as to what that 'hit' will likely be.

So what happened to get 6, that's quite a penalty as it's the maximum for speeding, or pretty close to it. The irony of course is that had you blazed past the speed camera at e.g. double the speed limit you could've ended up with a straight ban for that offence which would be almost certainly shorter than the totting up ban you're facing.
That said your driving record looked at dispassionately - on for 12 points in 2 years for 3 speeding offences - paints the picture of someone who has scant regard for the intended effect of these punishments (modifying ones driving), so you're have to do a good job with your exceptional hardship statement.

laws I would make the ban 6 months and a maximum fine which I believe is £2500.Or possibly give you 12 points but not ban you so you will have the knowledge of one slip up and you will get a ban ,oh and a £5000 fine.
Blimey I thought this was a motoring forum where we all like to 'make progress'. I see you live in Wales, are you related to Richard Brunstrom?Sorry to hear of your predicament op, hope they are not too hard on you.

90 in a 70. (M25 at 2am - more cameras than traffic) but no excuses. The judge only gave me a £100 fine but I think that because this incident followed hot on the heels of the first one he spanked me with the points. My problem is if I see an empty D/C or MWay in front of me I can get a little 'relaxed' if there is no traffic around. Wouldn't dream of it during normal hours hence my bewilderment with this latest incident at 6:30pm on a road that whilst not busy would have had traffic on it.

Usually 96 is summons And 90 is still lowest level and 3 points
And one assumes none of these qualified for speed awareness or maybe that life has been used

I probably make progress quicker than most people up to the speed limits and go over them but only by 10% and have never had points.People who get caught at 45 in a 30,69 in a 50 or over 100 on the motorway are taking the p*ss and deserve what they get.
I live in South Wales and believe Richard Brunstrom was in North Wales,we are not related and I disagreed with his methods of policing.
My wife and kids are Welsh but I am English and escape every Month to visit my parents in Bristol.Luckily we have the Severn Bridge so saves me digging a tunnel.
Oh dear this is really deteriorating quickly now. All of a sudden I've come on here to "boast".
Wow.
I said 90 and it was 90ish, I can't remember the exact number. Likely a bit more then but certainly not a ton as I'd have been banned automatically.
Anyway, I've already been tried and hung for that offence so lets not re-run it eh chaps
Poledriver marks the first of the real "hang him high" brigade. Expected it sooner to be honest. Adds nothing just comes on to vent his spleen. All that jazz has wandered in after him. Fair enough.
But how someone who openly declares he has his own speed limit of whatever the law says plus a 10% personal bonus can criticise anyone else who speeds is beyond me. Your either compliant or your not, and we are both not.
Speeding is not big and its not clever, even by 10%, and I've never advocated otherwise. But if this is a demonstration of how a request for information can snowball into a pitchforks and torches march then I'll bow out.
To everyone who's seen my OP for what it is and tried to offer advice etc, cheers
But "Boasting". REALLY?
Wow.

The thing is that the other poster (and me) who set outer own limits within reason of the speed limit must have better observational skills, or use our thresholds more appropriately, or both as we don't have any points. Whereas, you've managed to be in a position to be banned from three instances of speeding in a short space of time. That's pretty poor driving obs whichever way you cut it. Wow.
