Not as a result of that murder or anything else I was subjected to but as a result of a serious assault - a career ending assault - on me.

Sorry to hear that.

Was your attacker caught and prosecuted?

He was.

By me.

I made sure he didn't get away. I believe the term is "walking wounded".

Well done.

Were you "pleased" at his sentence , i.e. was it in line with your expectations?

I have found this thread interesting, even coming from the same side of the fence so to speak.

Dibble, Red 4 - you have my best wishes.

I'm guessing your profile pic is near the sand dunes at St Anne's/Pontins, or the coast road at Formby/Southport?
Spot on with St Annes/Pontins - a number of TVRs were lining up for the factory workforce support rally in 2006. Very emotional when we arrived at the factory to find the workforce - who had been kicked out of the factory early because Smolenski wanted an empty factory when we arrived - waiting outside and cheering us.

I wanted to be a policeman, back when I was at school. I was not nearly tall enough and my career went in a very different direction. As an adult, I selfishly realise that I am glad I never got into the 'job' but I am very glad that there are those who are stronger than me who can, and do, do the job that I could not, for all of us.

I have, at different times, been good friends with officers, urgently needed their help, and I have also wished they had not been there to see when I had been doing something stupid or careless.

I have never met a policeman who was less than polite, professional and worthy of respect - whether I met them socially or in the line of duty.

To all of you, boys and girls in blue - Thank you.

Thanks to Dibble for starting this thread. Very sobering reading about what can happen if you live alone and what the BiB must face when it does happen.

Cheers guys.

I had a heart attack 6 years ago and I was alone with my very young kids and it still scares me to this day if I had not managed to call 999.
