Caught doing 120mph on the motorway

Sounds like a decent outcome.
Probably a good thing you didn't go armed with the "evidence" from this thread and start a lively discussion with the bench about stopping distances.
Yes quite! That wouldn't have gone down well. They are only interested in the facts of my case and not a lot more as they do not have time to waste. Considering the circumstances I did get away with 56 days and without those circumstances I may have been looking at 3 months plus. I will get through it but it does feel strange not being able to hop in a car and drive somewhere. I was hoping for 6 weeks or less but that was quite optimistic.Probably a good thing you didn't go armed with the "evidence" from this thread and start a lively discussion with the bench about stopping distances.

I should go on a holiday. That will use up some of the time.I'm sorry but if you do 120mph odd anywhere you have to know that you're going to be in the st if you get caught. No one does that speed by accident, all this specious guff about "not feeling the speed" is just that - guff, at least at those velocities.
Many, unlike the OP I might add, seem to reason that "not being used to a new car", "didn't notice how fast I was going", "I don't spend all my time watching the speedo", etc are legitimate defences for being caught. It's lucky the OP didn't try that nonsense on in court and dealt with his own free will choices and their consequences like a man.

A straight ban for an SP30 would, I assume, be weighted rather heavily because it's self-evident that it was an egregious speed. My money is on £400 also.
My insurance varies as I have a business policy and then my own vehicles. Some are on laid up insurance some aren't. I've got an Elise and that is only £300 to insure on a full policy. Can't see that going up to £700 but let's wait and see! Think it is due soon so will update the costs. Overall it is costly once you account for everything and there is no getting away from that!!!!
Got 6pts, £200 fine plus £25 victim surcharge?? for 107 on the m62. Cost me more for the new suit and barrister!!! Do the points come off after 3yrs?
Did get a couple of laughs waiting for my case to be heard.
One young 'chap' wearing a t shirt covered in plaster / concrete dust, 3/4 length shorts, also filthy, came over to me, resplendent in my new suit and tie, and whispered "Scuse me mate, you my brief?"
One of our 'Eastern Brethren' claimed to "No speak English" when asked by the court usher for his documents. The look on his face when told, "Don't worry Sir, we'll have a translator here in 20 mins", was a picture. Think he heard me sniggering as well!
