A friend of mine recieved a ticket today from MET parking for overstaying in a McDonalds car park. They entered the car park at 11:35PM and left at 2:05AM, and apparently there is a 90 minute cap on parking. They want a £50 "parking charge" if paid within 14 days or £100 if paid anytime after that. Where does my friend stand if they want to appeal and surely the charge is unfair if there was 1) No way of paying extra at the premises for a longer stay and 2) There was no demand for parking at time of visit so surely they haven't made a loss that they can recover from the 150 minute period the car was parked there.

Any advice on how to proceed would be much appreciated

Was your friend in the restaurant for 150 minutes?

We were in the car park for about an hour and then in the restaurant for the remaining time.

You were sitting in the car for an hour?

Is this a dogging venue or something?

An hour in the car park of a Maccy Dee and then more in the deluxe eatery itself! Night of glamour!

Yep, just wanted to indulge in a spot of dogging before wolfing down a large Big Mac meal with a free McFlurry (thanks NUS!!!!!).
