I'm missing the threads where people have been prosecuted for 71 or 72 or '79 even' with these new cameras.

Yes, being 79. Where are all the nips for 79?

Everyone drives at at indicated 80 on the M25, when conditions permit, so this seems to be the default real speed limit.

You think so?

My experience - in the gantry sections - is that it is quite rare to see anyone driving as fast as what appear to be the high 70s.

I drive on the M25 from the M40 to the M11 and back again twice a weekend (usually about two hours in all, as it takes about half an hour in good conditions to drive that section), and when the traffic is fluid I tend to find myself sat in a stream of cars with my speedo showing 80 or close to 80.

I drive at an indicated 80 on the M25 which my GPS says is 76/77, usually there isn't too much passing me apart from a few crazy van drivers.

Okay, that would be the northern section. I don't think there are many gantry cameras after J17, are there?
On the section that had the first series of gantry (film) cameras, and subsequently the first digital cameras, J15-J10 (since expanded), any vehicle doing 80-ish really stands out from the rest.

Dunno, when driving the Dolly or the Lotus I am too terrified to open my eyes.
