I remember a few times I've come across TFL checking vehicles with a van that has MOT equipment in it, and they can force you to take your vehicle off the road there & then, or fine you (I think) if the emissions are over the top, even if you have a current mot. Well this bus (was) taking the piss - you know how smoke doesn't really photograph well so in real life it was smegging atrocious.

Is there any way (where?) of reporting such outrageous vehicles? Or are they exempt from the rules that other vehicles in London have to obey? Since I expect someone will ask - I would like an official body to force them to either rectify the bus, or get it removed from the road.

You do realise they put out everything they had today don't you??! They even put out old stock to get the city moving. The buses were dangerously overcrowded. I was lucky that I was able to use the dlr and walk from bank. I walked for 3 hours today rather than contemplating using the buses.

If it's not from today then sorry... But do you honestly expect them to not use it because of a bit of smoke on a day like today??

Get a life you tossers
Nothing to do with putting everything out today.
This is an 07 plate bus
My 02 plate 32 ton tanker does not make this sort of smoke.

Valid point OP with regard to smoke emission

Personally I would report it to the operator initially, and details of the operator are on the bus and identifiable from the bus number. It may be that the bus has picked up the fault whilst on its daily route.

But its Enviro 200 confused It must be good for the environment. Maybe they should have painted it Green, that usually placates the crazies.

I'm with you OP, fking hate smoky vehicles, a sure sign of poor maintenance.

For a few years now there's been a bus running around Scarborough (YX58 BXH, I think) with the sides painted with a blue sky/fluffy white clouds colour scheme, and bearing the message " A full bus can take 35 cars off the road. Now isn't that a breath of fresh air!"

Well no it isn't actually. I've sometimes seen that bus emitting seriously excessive amounts of smoke, despite the notice on the back that claims it to have some sort of advanced eco-friendly low emissions setup. mad

Bit disappointed with this thread...

Thought I was going to see pictures of a bus covered in poo and wee - both inside and out.

This. When I was a special, we used to stop private hire taxis for being excessively dirty. I thought my partner was kidding when he told me to wind down my window and tell the taxi driver next to us that he needed to clean his cab lol.

Looks like the photo was taken from the driver's side. Where can I report someone for using a cameraphone while operating a motor vehicle... wink

Vehicles like that bus perform a useful function as a deterrent to cyclists smile

I thought the bus was going to have naked women inside, or pictured on the outside.

Very disappointed indeed. mad

I remember using buses around 10 years ago which where single decker and the smell of diesel fumes when sitting at the back was unbearable.

Used to get a sore head all through the day because of it.

Many people complained but they never did anything about it. Something to do with a service hatch in the floor at the back not being secured properly.
