the type of post and the link to his previous post about being a 'named driver' makes this spring to mind
i'm happy to be proved wrong
And here was me worried at the lack of casual racism in this thread. Well done, sir. You've restored that warm, best of British, NP&E glow.the type of post and the link to his previous post about being a 'named driver' makes this spring to mind

Really not sure whether to click report on the racism here, or just leave it to attract the ridicule it's rightly been getting the type of post and the link to his previous post about being a 'named driver' makes this spring to mind

Obviously, no-one of pure Aryan descent ever speeds excessively or cheats on their insurance. All those times they hit the papers for it must be some sort of propaganda drive by the Grauniad and other lefty rags!

You're free to break those limits if you wish, but you have absolutely no grounds to say anything but "it's a fair cop, Guv" if you get caught doing so, especially by the margins being discussed here
I think everyone is in agreement with this, myself included. However earlier you said this:

It doesn't matter how much of a diving god you or the OP are, you do not have the skills, reactions or ability to safely do 80+ mph in a 30 limit on a public road with all the hazards that can mean. Any 30 limit. If you believe otherwise your ego needs deflating fast
I and several others respectfully disagree and highlighted those examples shown earlier in the thread, of grade separated dual carriageways and former urban motorways reclassified and limited to 30 or 40mph.I completely agree that to do 80, 100 or even more on one of these stretches is against the law, potentially antisocial and indeed poor judgement given the legal ramifications if caught, but that does not make doing so a hazard.

Perhaps not if you're the only one doing those speeds on them. But, as an example, on the stretch pictured earlier, if you're doing 80+ down that grade and someone with the same idea is coming on at the slip road, foot flat and not expecting anyone else to be there cos it's 4am on a school night, then someone in that block of flats is likely to have two cars in their front room. [...] that does not make doing so a hazard.
In fact, the person coming on could simply be doing normal speed and expecting anyone on there to be ding the same. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that while doing the extra speed you should be staying in the middle lane to keep the on-slips free?
Eta: or, for that matter, the pissed up resident from those flats who's taking a short-cut home across the DC. Doesn't matter that he shouldn't be, the fact is that people do. And, when you've just bounced an idiot pedestrian off your bonnet at that speed it won't make much difference to you that he was being an idiot - you will still feel the guilt of killing someone just cos you wanted to save a minute or two

If slip roads are such an issue we'd better lower the speed limit on 2 lane motorways asap given that some people don't get up to speed before joining whereas others are into three figures on joining.
the ops got a long way to go
how about 128 mph in a 30mph

At the bottom of the article it said :- Last week, a motorbiker who did 117mph in a 30mph zone got away with it because the speed gun was only there for "research purposes".how about 128 mph in a 30mph

What a load of round objects, is the law that flimsy, either you did 117 in 30, or you didn't!

Don't forget to watch out for the aircraft engine falling from the sky, it could hit the road with little time for a car travelling faster than 29.9 mph to take avoiding action, then again it might score a direct hit on the flats.

lol @ the aircraft engine - doesn't really deserve more than that.If slip roads are such an issue we'd better lower the speed limit on 2 lane motorways asap given that some people don't get up to speed before joining whereas others are into three figures on joining.
Slip roads are a problem, especially on a lot of urban DCs where they're often - if not usually - shorter and / or steeper and / or have worse visibility than normal because of space constraints.

Sure thing. Then again, where would we be without them Variomatic said:

Just in case you're not aware after 94 months, Gaz is a PH mod and was clearly using humour to make a serious point.

thanks - is there a list of moderators?HTH
on most forums under a members name it usually says 'moderator'
if he has a point to make maybe a private message/mail is more appropriate?
because as far as i can see i've not broken any rules?

Please also try to improve on your grammar skills. The lack of capitals makes your posts look messy.

Public warnings get the message across to a wider audience.
As far as a list of Mods is concerned I don't know of one. Experiential learning applies
