Not really. PH isn't about badge or car snobbery, surely? It's about how you drive it? ;-)

If it's specced to 'Sport' thats what it is. I doubt you would get any more due to the paperwork.

I'll keep this for my 'good reasons to lease' thread.

I don't know, but is it possible that Sport models arrived in the UK as SE models and had some bits added, either by the importer or the retailer to turn them into Sport models?

So far as I know, the V55 comes pre-populated by the importer/manufacturer.

It's happened before with Jeep. The cars came into the UK and had an interior retrim with ne exterior lights fitted and we're called a completely different spec.

That's not mention all the dealer 'limited edition' cars knocking around.

I've encountered this problem before with VAG cars, a Golf Bluemotion Match showing on the V5 as an SE and a Beetle convertible showing as a 'Solar' model when there only seems to be a Sola or Luna model. I also found a part on the VW website about it so I think it maybe a problem VAG cars have had in the past.

As for values the dealer can value it without the reg number so will can give the price as a Sport. Also the chassis number will show as a Sport Model on the Skoda system. I think the dealership are just been lazy by not valuing the car properly.

Without knowing the details, but for a guide the difference shown by CAP between a 5Dr SE and Sport which have done 20000 miles and registered in June 2013 is £650. This is only a guide as i doubt the Citigo is a book car in the trade.

Not sure about the dealer being lazy, more likely trying to pull a fast one.

I had a similar problem when I bought a VXR220 turbo, it came from the factory to Lotus as a VX220 turbo, when it came out of the Lotus factory it was a VXR220 turbo.
When I got the V5 it said vx220 turbo not VXR220 turbo which is what I had bought and paid for, I just got all the bills of sale from the garage and returned the V5 with a letter explaining they had made a mistake and to look at the bill of sale.
I got the amended V5 in the post a few weeks later.

Phacktoid: Every Lotus Excel in EVAH had/has a V5 that said/says that it was/is a Lotus Eclat. Lotus was too tightfisted and cheap-ass to get type approval for the Excel, and even sold the first few as Eclat Excels, even though an Excel is in many ways quite different from an Eclat. The thing about this sort of thing is: it makes no real difference to anything and isn't worth worrying about. It doesn't give rise to any speed, plod, or law issues. Haggle.

Glasses puts the difference in value with the Sport coming up at at £900 more, however this is just a guide, looking at Autotrader the difference in the advertised price for similar mileage cars is around £500-£600 in favour of the Sport.

I doubt very much Citigo's are book money cars, so I would assume; taking Glasses into account and Autotrader figures, the actual difference in a trade in figure would probably be £300-£400 in favour of the Sport.

What is your reg number, I can put it into Glasses to see what it comes up as?

no that it is particularly relevant but I have just been browsing Autotrader to see what is the difference between a normal one and a sport and the facts n figures bit says the Sport is slower than the base spec one!

What, you mean body kits and stickers add weight but don't make the car any faster? Shock

+1 for non-problem

Many thanks for the sensible replies.

Dealer has been excellent (as usual to be fair), the problem seems to lie with the Experian system as the cars are all ok everywhere except the insurance database side of things, this somehow ties into the valuation sites.
Discussions are undergoing to rectify the situation.

My main concern wasn't with my car and the current deal as i knew I could get a decent deal, my concern lies with my daughter and niece's cars when they change in the future. Its likely as two young ladies they will change brand and any dealer will use any excuse to give you as little as possible for your trade in.

On a far more interesting note for PH, new Octavia Scout 184 DSG is on its way to me. driving
