What's right with British Cops?

I want to put this to everyone out of general interest. 2 part question.
1. Bearing in mind recent threads about overtly armed AFO's doing normal duties, if this cop had been armed and had shot the subject, what would your reaction be?
2. Think about how far 21 feet is (max range of a Taser). Now image you have a Taser and a Pistol both holstered and this guy starts sprinting at you from 21 feet away with this knife. Which weapon will you draw and use?
Please answer totally truthfully about your own thoughts and justifications. Just curious.
Taser max range 21 feet? Have you ever used on of those things? 21 feet would take an awful lot of hail marys for it to be successful. Very very very unlikely for the probes to go where you want.1. He runs at you and you think he's going to injure you with the knife? You only get one option, the person with the knife would be shot or the cop would be stabbed.

If they did get a taser deployment like you said, the lefties would advise the crook to sue the police for excessive force.

Yep, and all the bleeding heart lefties would criticise the police (who were at the time probably about to be killed) for not doing exactly that if they missed and the crook was shot.

There would be at least 4 threads on here about it tooIf they did get a taser deployment like you said, the lefties would advise the crook to sue the police for excessive force.
Anyone running at a policeman (or anyone else) with a knife deserves to be shot. I dont think anyone will critisize a policeman for shooting someone attacking him/her with a knife. I cant remember any liberals critisizing the fine officers who shot the Lee Rigby murderers. If they got any criticism, it was for not finishing off the killers.
Having said this, an armed policeman should not deliberately place himself in a position where he would be left with no option but to shoot a suspect, if other de-escalation avenues are still available. If you pull up to a knifeman attacking a person, then hey, go in all guns blazing. If you arrive to meet a knifeman standing in a doorway with no one in immediate danger, then shooting them would be wrong. If you are on routine patrol you should attend incidents just as an unarmed copper would.
Compare the Tamir Rice shooting in Cleveland to the Lee Rigby Killers' shooting in Woolwich. In Cleveland, the police rolled up on a boy who had committed no crime and gave themselves no chance to use any other option but lethal force. The police in Woolwich arrived at a crime in progress but still pulled up at a considerable distance to assess the situation and only used deadly force when it was really the only option left.

I'm glad you sorted these unknown scenarios out. So much of a grey area before.Edited by No Bend on Sunday 9th August 00:42

Yes, I have used one and carry one everyday. That's why I said max range. I'm aware of the difference between that and ideal operational range for probe placement to get NMI. Just using 21 feet to demonstrate that it's not all that far and some of us on here know the limitations regarding probe placement and climate related clothing etc. I know what I'd be reaching for in the scenario I describe but I thought I'd try and get some of the more prolific BiB bashers to think outside their idealist bubble for a bitHe runs at you and you think he's going to injure you with the knife? You only get one option, the person with the knife would be shot or the cop would be stabbed.
Video has been removed? I remember being shocked as a special constable during training when told that the cs gas only lasts about 5 seconds or so when fully pressed!

What was his problem?Or JUST another nutter?
Probably, I'm not sure of the background to it. The two officers were awarded for their bravery.
We were shown this one during training - scary but the cop did very well:
