Coming off the M6 Toll where it joins the M42, the VSL signs were showing 50. I consciously checked i was doing less than 50 as I'm paranoid about these things (I was probably doing an indicated 48-49 or so which would be satnav 46-47ish?). As I passed the 2nd gantry which has cameras on it, i noticed a flash in the wing mirror. After this I then saw all 3 lanes flashing as cars were going through. It must have flashed 5 or 6 cars all at once.

The following gantry was showing 40 and there after they were alternative between 50 and 40.

Is there some odd occurrence that would cause this? Not only am I positive I was under the indicated limit, it would be incredibly unlikely that all cars in a 10 second or so window were all over the limit.

Searching for this gantry (1165B)I see a lot of historical cases about it but nothing recently. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm now worried I'll be receiving a NIP for something I shouldn't...

If you are happy you were within the limit the secondary check (road markings) should show it, but this needs to be checked by a human bean - if the NIPS are automatically generated. I would hope that if there were a high number of "hits" someone in authority somewhere would rumble that there was a problem and look into it (I'm not holding my breath though)

Hmm I guess regarding the road markings although it wouldn't help if it was checking vs a non displayed speed frown
