An attempt to mask a problem. Theres 'talk' of shifting from 5th to 2nd. If you've past your test a while what are the chances? Have you done it? I haven't and I'm not a fantastic driver. Thats in the many cars I've owned, ones I've borrowed or hired.
It has nothing to do with passing your test. It's entirely possible to fluff a gearchange on a car you aren't used to, especially if you are giving it a major thrashing at the time and rushing the changes.A shift from 5th to 4th (when going for 6th), or 6th to 3rd (when going for 5th) would be particularly likely if you were being ham fisted, since the lever is sprung towards the middle (3rd/4th) position.

I assume the S2000 has an oil warning light and I also assume the OP knew it was not lit when the car was driven away. So unless the buyer drained the oil or there was a drastic leak (which to be fair he might have bottomed it out at speed and knocked something causing a leak, no idea) then it should surely have enough oil to cope?!?
the early S2000's did not have a warning light, hence lots of the blew up and Honda then fitted one for the UK market - as it seemed Japanese drivers were better at checking their oil levels.. Was an interesting story i heard from my old neighbor who used to run aftermarket for Honda in the UK before he moved back to Japan. dannyDC2 said:
The oil warning light on the S2000 works on oil pressure anyway not level. If the oil level was low it would not have illuminated regardless.
The oil surges when you go around bends etc, so if it's low the oil pickup can suck air and the light will come on, so in some circumstances oil level is a factor in the light coming on.dannyDC2 said:
I guess so yeah. I think by now the car must have been at least diagnosed, I've heard nothing.
Unless it's needed a lot of work and he's waiting until the final bill to let me know how much he's suing me for! That's my concern.
I doubt that. I think he should give you the opportunity to pay before hand or agree a solution (if you wanted to). He can't just go ahead and run up huge costs before asking you to pay them. How come hes suing you ? Also do you really think he will win ?
Come on its a second hand car.....

He's only made contact with me twice since I made the thread, it's PHers who are keeping this going.
That said, I'd prefer if everyone didn't reply from now on - don't lock the thread mods, but let's let it die. I'll post up if anything happens, hopefully I wont...
I don't want to keep seeing it in My Stuff though, makes me a bit sad when I see the title...
