Motorway debris

Hello,

My car was damaged this morning on the motorway is there anyway of tracing the vehicle that had dropped its load? unfortunately there was no way to avoid it,

Well, I imagine it depends what you hit:
sign with companies' name...quite easy
blown tyre..not so much!

What was it that made it impossible to drive around it or stop before hitting it?

ETA. Second thoughts; I suppose if it's airborn/flying at you it's pretty difficult to avoid.

In lane two truck on my left and car coming passed me on the right and the debris was in the air,
it looked like a panel from a plant machine (at a guess) im going that way later hopefully its still there

Ring Highways England and ask if they can help/was said panel recovered/anybody else affected who gave them some info which will help you?

I've spoken to the HA and nothing has been reported yet, I'll try them again later, the chap didn't sound hopeful on the phone

No chance. Even if you can find the owner you would have to prove negligence.
