Your wishing it NOT be private land because that would be inconvenient to you - does not make it so.

To a lot of us, that DOES look to be private land and that is clearly asked for advice that you have deliberately chosen to ignore. Add to that the rude note from the (random) obvious land owner and you should really be seeing a pattern emerging.

But, you can just ignore everyone pointing out that its private lane, if you so wish and let us know how you get on trying to avoid the subsequent repercussions - whilst claiming that nobody told you/you assumed otherwise and hence nobody should fine you.
After all, you never know, one of the people working there might even be active on Pistonheads!
Nonsense rant. I haven't ignored anyone and I have acknowledged that it's possibly a private road but it may not be. It's certainly not clear either way.

What is quite possible is that it's just somebody trying to scare people off, to make more space for themselves, made even more possible by the very unprofessional note. Why would I care if somebody working there is reading this? I may well have this very conversation with them at some stage.

Don't let any of this stop you getting all hot and bothered if that's how you like to fill your day.

Maybe the author of the note did not want to be polite to people parking on their land as they didn't care what you thought of them! smile

Isn't that a clamping sign there in the back?
Yes it is, relating to the car park on the left. Obviously nonsense as they can't clamp but it's obviously a private car park
I would have thought that if they considered the entire area as a clamp target zone that:

- They would have placed the sign right at the entrance, not at the car park itself ignoring the road.
- That they would not need to put on notes on the screen as they would have clamped it straight away.

I don't see it as part of the restricted zone.

Visit the local authority website, on there will be some online maps. One of the filters on those maps will be "public & private roads" or "road ownership" or similar. There ye shall find thy definitive answer to your acknowledged question above.

Or you could ring the LA's Highways dept and ask them.

Thanks, had a quick look but couldn't find anything. I think what some may be missing is that this is a very large estate, probably entirely private, owned and managed by some kind of service company (I imagine). Many of the units are rented. I think it's unlikely that the company in question are owners of this bit of road or even responsible for its upkeep, though it's not beyond the realms of possibility. There is a clear distinction between their car park and the road.

Have a look at the google map - unlike all the other roads this one doesn't have a name and is greyed out...

It's not greyed out. The road he is on about is the one with the loop next to Co Op. Still, it will be a private road.

That is the one I'm on about and it is greyed out, just subtly - some monitors may not pick it up easily. If you look at the archaic South Glos planning website it is also private property.

Surely you jest?

Despite the obvious first conclusion that most would make, the OP has used all of the key 'anti-words' to prove that HE is the victim here:

Probably
Possibly
Maybe
Might
I think
etc...

I have to say that this thread is right up there at the top of the pile with the recent one about the guy wanting to park his car a few streets away outside someone else house because it was too noisy to start up outside his own.

At least the title of the thread is accurate!

Although in an unintended way.

Minor thread resurrection (and slight hijack - sorry!) since this thread popped up in a Google search for "Aztec West private roads".

As another of the Aztec West lot here, I'm seeing more and more cars being parked on double yellows around the business park, with a disregard for the "no parking" signs scattered around. I'm not familiar with the current change in law regarding the enforcement of parking on private land in England but have assumed that this is why they're doing it.
And this also assumes that the Aztec West roads have not been adopted by the council.

Any thoughts?

The list of streets
We are required to maintain, under section 36(6) of the Highways Act 1980, an up to date list of streets within the authority.

The list contains an alphabetical list of streets, footways and cycleways that are either fully or partially adopted (maintained at public expense).

The list of streets can be amended by the following legal events:

naming of a new street
renaming of an existing street
adoption of an unadopted street
stopping up of a street
For more information of the list of streets or to check specific street information contact us at highwaysearches@southglos.gov.uk or call 01454 864568

The company I worked for in my previous role (I'm a contractor too!) had offices in Aztec West (2610). I normally got parking as I'd book in advance, but if I had to go there at short notice I used to park in the hotel which seemed the norm.

Not sure how far you are from that as images don't appear on my work screen so can't see where in Aztec West you are

I also work on the park, seems there are a few of us. I know Co-Op didn't have enough spaces as they all used to park in 740 while it was empty, now there are barriers I guess they're also stuck.

Well I 'get' the OP - make it clear upfront and thus don't bark at me later or go slapping things on my car! Simple. Better. Clearer.
